2025 CFC50 High School Rankings WEEK 6: There’s nowhere to hide in October

TOP HEADLINES

  • Remember when we told the story about Saint-Jean-Eudes dropping two games in a row last year and then bouncing back to run the table? Well they’re running the same playbook again this year with a massive 30-14 win over Charles-Lemoyne to reclaim their place at the top of the standings in Quebec. The Condors loss to Armand-Corbeil was a shocker, but they didn’t let it fester in the locker room now stringing together three straight wins, and it might make them feel a little bit better that Armand-Corbeil went out and pulled off another upset this week over College Bourget. We’d love to find a spot on the rankings for the Scorpions, but unfortunately sitting a 2-4 it’s tough to justify at the moment. With that said, if they can hold onto a playoff spot, you better believe nobody in the bracket will be looking forward to a do or die contest with Armand-Corbeil. Needless to say, it’ll be very interesting to see how Charles-Lemoyne rebound against the Scorpions this week.

  • The parity across Canada feels like it’s at an all-time high, and one of the best examples is what’s happening in Manitoba with Dakota, St. Paul’s and Oak Park trading blows this season. We had St. Paul’s sitting in the top ten after their big win against Oak Park, but the defending champions Dakota aren’t going to release their grip on the province without a fight after putting together a dominant 25-5 performance against the Crusaders. So you’ve now got Oak Park who beat Dakota, St. Paul’s who beat Oak Park, and Dakota who beat St. Paul’s, then you’ve gotta throw in Vincent Massey who are sitting pretty at 5-0 with a matchup against St. Paul’s in their season finale. We’ve got them all placed on the rankings right now, and only time will tell who ends up claiming the ultimate bragging rights in November. Your guess is as good as ours, and we wouldn’t want to have it any other way.
  • The most shocking result of the week comes out of Alberta where Ernest Manning put the province on notice with a 32-0 thrashing against St. Francis. Up until this point in the season, St. Francis was in cruise control riding a 5 game winning streak, but they crashed back down to earth in epic fashion. On the other side, Ernest Manning suffered two heartbreaking losses by one point against Salisbury and Notre Dame to begin the year, but they’ve obviously been able to learn from those losses, and there’s no reason they can’t go all the way if they keep up their current form. We aren’t about to count St. Francis out completely, but they are going to need to do some soul searching this week and find a way to bounce back with a big rivalry game against Notre Dame on deck.

CFC100 CLASS 2026 RANKINGS

  • Alberta was full of surprises this week with Salisbury falling short 19-15 against Holy Trinity Academy, who are currently ranked 4th on the CFC25 Small School Rankings. It’s important to point out that despite their DII status, Holy Trinity Academy are one of the best run programs in the entire country, and most teams outside of the elites would struggle against them, but still we expected Salisbury to find a way to come out on top in this matchup with the way they’ve been playing this year. Now it’s up to the Sabres to make sure this is just a minor setback on their journey, and get back in the win column against Ross Sheppard and Jasper Place to close out the regular season campaign so they can head into the playoffs on a high note.
  • After winning 40 straight games in British Columbia, Vancouver College have now dropped two in a row after falling to South Delta 17-10. Full credit goes to the Sun Devils for showing their true character and finding a way to get off the mat in a big-time way after losing back-to-back games against Centennial and Lord Tweedsmuir. Right now it appears like we’ve got W.J. Mouat as the clear front runners, and then you’ve got a huge group of programs in the chase position with not much to separate the pack. We will get a better idea of where Lord Tweedsmuir and Centennial stand in the race when they faceoff this week with first place in the AAA Central Division on the line, while Robert Bateman will have a chance to prove they truly belong in the championship conversation when they line up against W.J. Mouat in a battle for first place in the AAA East Division.
  • We swivel our attention to Ontario where we’ve had some shakeups in the rankings and stellar performances. Huron Heights went down to Ohio for their first game south of the border this year, and they represented the maple leaf with pride putting up 21 points in the fourth quarter to secure a 47-34 victory against Harvest Prep, who are the 67th ranked program in Ohio per MaxPreps. They now prepare for another stateside trip to take on Lumen Christi, who are the 44th ranked program in Michigan per MaxPreps.

  • Heading to Brampton now, it looks like the battle for the ROPSSAA title is going to be a blood bath with David Suzuki pulling out a 22-21 victory over the defending champs St. Roch. This leaves the three team division stuck in a deadlock with Robert F. Hall defeating David Suzuki in their season opener, so it’s going to be a lot of fun to see how the rematches play out.
  • Our final result to report in Ontario comes out of London, where Medway and Laurier couldn’t settle it on the field playing to a 14-14 draw. At this point in the season, you’ve got Catholic Central standing at the top of the mountain, and then a whole mess of teams trying to find a way to claim the crown with A.B. Lucas, South, Parkside, Oakridge, St. Andre Bessette, Medway and Laurier duking it out. We’re pretty sure Catholic Central will be there in the end, but who ends up on the opposite sideline is a complete mystery.
  • We end this week’s top headlines in New Brunswick where Harrison Trimble managed to come out on top in a 23-21 slugfest against Riverview. The playoff picture is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing in the country with Saint John and Leo Hayes also undefeated at 4-0, then you’ve got Moncton, Riverview, and Fredericton sitting at 3-1 with just two games left in the regular season.
