2026 CFC50 High School Rankings WEEK 2: Holy Cross took no prisoners in Saskatoon rivalry matchup

Top Headlines

• We begin this week across the border where Huron Heights dropped their season opener 24-0 to Zeeland West in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Zeeland West are currently the 36th ranked program in Michigan per MaxPreps, and after watching some film they are a big, physical and athletic team who run a similar run-heavy offence as the Warriors. It’s always tough to make judgement calls when you’ve got Canadian teams heading south to take on American counterparts, and we always grant teams some grace in their first couple of games when the chemistry and execution is still under construction, but at end of the day we know the Warriors more than anybody will be disappointed with getting shutout no matter who their opponent was on the other sideline. For now they drop down to 4th ranked, but it’s still early days with a lot of runway left for the top programs to stake their claim for the number one spot in the nation at the end of the year.

• Generally we can expect close contests whenever Holy Cross and St. Joseph lineup for their rivalry matchups in Saskatoon, but it looks like this edition of the Crusaders are a different breed after an impressive 35-7 victory over the Guardians. This comes off the back of another 46-7 blowout victory against Riffel to open the season, who turned around and pulled off a great bounce back performance defeating LeBoldus 45-0 this past week that shows they aren’t some casual pushovers on the schedule. St. Joseph remain on the rankings after a tough 0-2 start with big losses to the provincial finalists last year, but we anticipate that by the time they meet Holy Cross again in the final week of the regular season they should have a much better idea of who they are as a team, and what they’ll need to do to solve the Crusaders puzzle.
• It’s always a thrilling night when Raymond and Lethbridge CI meet between the white lines, and this edition of the rivalry was all about attrition with the Comets holding on for a low-scoring 7-6 victory against the Rams. Both programs have already dropped games to top ranked Alberta program Harry Ainlay in the opening weeks, but if there’s anything to take away from this type of defensive standoff, it’s that they are capable of grinding out games on defence, which is likely the formula they’ll need to take down the high power Titans in the provincial playdowns come November.

CFC100 CLASS 2027 RANKINGS

• After defeating Ernest Manning in their season opener, Bev Facey were faced with a heavy dose of reality in their first league game against their crosstown rivals Salisbury, who put together a dominant 43-8 performance to improve their overall record to 3-0. Now we really won’t know where the Sabres currently stand in the provincial title conversation until they square off against Harry Ainlay in two weeks time, but after outscoring their first three opponents 172-16, you have to believe they’ll be entering that game overflowing with confidence.
• The action is beginning to pick-up in Ontario with Korah making a statement in their season opener with a 39-4 victory over St. Mary’s, who they also met in the city finals last season. Elsewhere there was some non-conference matchups including St. John’s getting revenge on St. James after falling to the Lions in the CWOSSA semifinals last year, and Western Tech putting together a great showing in a 24-21 losing effort against top 20 ranked A.N. Myer. Our final two games to report this week are Bishop Ryan getting off to a flying start with a 47-0 triumph against Notre Dame (Welland), and Nelson getting their first taste of victory in 2026 with a 33-2 win against St. FX (Milton).
