Two teams are emerging at the front runners for Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) junior varsity supremacy.
This past weekend, both the London Jr. Mustangs and Ottawa Myers Riders kept their unbeaten streaks intact. Other Week 7 winners include Toronto Thunder, West Durham Dolphins, Mississauga Warriors, Etobicoke Eagles, Oshawa Hawkeyes and Niagara Spears.
In the Ontario Football Conference (OFC), Burlington Stampeders continue their dominance as no one has been able to figure out how to win or even score points on the team. Brantford Bisons, Forest City Thunderbirds, Guelph Jr. Gryphons, Twin Cities Predators, Sarnia Sturgeon and Hamilton Varsity Tiger Cats were among the Week 6 winners.

ONTARIO VARSITY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (OVFL):
LONDON JR. MUSTANGS 38, BRAMPTON BULLDOGS 8:
On Canada Day at TD Waterhouse Stadium, Chase Brown scored a touchdown and rushed for 134 yards on 19 carries as the London Jr. Mustangs cruised to a 38-8 victory over visiting Brampton Bulldogs.
The Jr. Mustangs are undefeated with a 6-0 record while the Bulldogs slip to 4-2.
Ethan Martin completed 14 passes in 19 attempts for 101 yards, 87 yards on nine carries and five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing). Nate Brooks tallied a major and racked up 41 yards on four receptions. Brian Garrity added a 15 yards field goal and five PAT’s in the game.
As for the Bulldogs, Retsen-Taeshawn Daley rushed for 152 yards on 25 carries. Antonio Webb caught an interception, registered five solo and 11 assisted tackles as well as added a PAT.
TORONTO THUNDER 42, YORK REGION LIONS 35:
At Birchmount Stadium on Saturday afternoon, #CFCOPC Kiondre Smith scored a touchdown and rushed for 304 yards on 14 carries as the Toronto Thunder got past the York Region Lions 42-35.
The Thunder improve to 4-3 while the Lions drop to 2-4.
Darius Bruno tallied three majors and rushed for 243 yards on 13 carries in the game. Shaquon White added a score and 35 yards on two receptions as well as two PAT’s. James Parchment was successful on two conversion attempts.
WEST DURHAM DOLPHINS 43, SSM SABRECATS 20:
On Saturday afternoon at Superior Heights Collegiate, the visiting West Durham Dolphins coasted to a 43-20 win over hosts SSM Sabrecats.
The Dolphins are 4-2 while the Sabrecats are 3-3 on the season.
For the Sabrecats, Parker St. Onge scored two touchdowns and rushed for 194 yards on 33 carries. Jordan Robinson-Wright completed 15 passes in 26 attempts for 192 yards. Travis Johnson amassed 71 yards on four receptions while Taylor Holub had 40 yards on three recpetions in the loss.
MISSISSAUGA WARRIORS 31, HAMILTON IRONMEN 14:

Jayden Kerr scoring on touchdown runs of 4, 39 and 3 yards staked the Junior Varsity Warriors to a 21-0 lead and the Warriors cruised to a 31-14 win over the Ironmen. Will Manko caught a 35 yard Austin Reid pass and Luke Tejerina booted a 13 yard field goal and 4 converts to close out the Warriors scoring. Touchdown passes of 11 and 75 yards to Tyler Davies and Amilcar Polk from Anthony Pimentel got the Ironmen on the scoreboard with Pimentel adding the converts. Warriors improve to 1-5 while Ironmen dropped to 0-6 on the season.
OTTAWA MYERS RIDERS 48, CUMBERLAND PANTHERS 0:
On Saturday afternoon at Millenium Field, #CFCOPC James Keenan completed 12 passes in 24 attempts for 159 yards and four touchdowns as the Ottawa Myers Riders crushed the Cumberland Panthers 48-0.
The Myers Riders have a perfect 6-0 record while the Panthers are an even 3-3.
Hayden Tripp scored a touchdown and rushed for 128 yards on 17 carries in the win. #CFCOPC Hono Iloki tallied a major and had 42 yards on five receptions.
#CFCOPC Malik Yusuf led the Myers Riders defence as he caught an interception, forced two fumbles, recorded an assisted and two solo tackles. Additonally, he registered five solo and five assisted tackles.
Nick Simms converted an interception into a touchdown score, forced a fumble, recorded two solo sacks as well as two solo and three assisted tackles for the Myers Riders. Additionally, Colin Henley-Vachon forced a fumble, had a sack, four solo and five assisted tackles. Blake McKenzie-Thompson registeted six solo and five assisted tackles in the win.
ETOBICOKE EAGLES 41, ESSEX RAVENS 9:
At University of Windsor on Saturday, the Etobicoke Eagles downed the Essex Ravens 41-9.
The Eagles move to 3-3 while the Ravens slip to 4-3.

OSHAWA HAWKEYES 18, METRO TORONTO WILDCATS 7:
On Saturday evening at Oshawa Civic Stadium, Khayden Stewart caught four interceptions, including one that he comverted into a touchdown score as the hosts Hawkeyes escaped with a 18-7 win over the Metro Toronto Wildcats.
Stewart also had two batted balls, a solo and an assisted tackle.
The Hawkeyes are 2-5 while the Wildcats are still winless at 0-6.
Joey Lachance blocked a kick and had three solo as well as eight assisted tackles for the Wildcats.
NIAGARA SPEARS 42, CAMBRIDGE LIONS 15:
At Wilfrid Laurier University on Saturday night, Dallas Bone scored two touchdowns, amassed 100 yards on three receptions and added six PAT’s as the Niagara Spears dismantled the Cambridge Lions 42-15.
The Spears improve to 5-1 while the Lions drop to 2-5.
Isaac McAlonan tallied a major and rushed for 68 yards on 12 carries. Eric Nielsen rushed for 82 yards on six carries in the game while Owen McArthur had a 35 yard reception.
On defence, Joshua Lisi had two batted balls, six solo and two assisted tackles.
As for the Lions, Elijah Cruikshank completed 12 passes in 23 attempts for 162 yards and a touchdown. Eric Stranz scored a touchdown and rushed for 87 yards on 11 carries as well as two PAT’s. Xavier Pineda tallied a major and racked up 50 yards on two receptions in the loss.
Adam Guillemette forced a fumble as well as registered six solo and four assisted tackles for the Lions defence. Moreover, Braeden Berry added four solo and 10 assisted tackles.
ONTARIO FOOTBALL CONFERENCE (OFC):
BRANTFORD BISONS 35, GUELPH JR. GRYPHONS 28:
On Saturday, the Brantford Bisons got past the Guelph Jr. Gryphons 35-28.
The Bisons improve to 4-1 while the Jr. Gryphons fall to 1-4.

FOREST CITY THUNDERBIRDS 22, PETERBOROUGH WOLVERINES 20:

On Saturday the Wolverines Jr. Varsity team hosted the Forest City Thunderbirds from London at the TAS Field while both the Wolverines Bantams and Sr. Varsity squads enjoyed a Bye weekend. It was a disappointing day for the Jr. Varsity team as they dropped another close decision in losing to the Thunderbirds 22-20 and now their record is 3-3.
The Wolverines played well at times and had a 15-9 lead at the half, however, the Thunderbirds took advantage of Wolverines’ mistakes and came back strong in the second half outscoring the Wolverines 13-5 to seal the victory. Scoring TD’s for the Wolverines were Keegan Crough and Ethan Ross with one each. Keegan Crough added a 17 yard Field Goal and Quinn Clancey converted on two convert kicks. Graeme Heighway added a single point off a punt and the Wolverines recorded a 2 point safety at the end of the game.
BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS 46, NORTH HALTON CRIMSON TIDE 0:

Like the Varsity unit, Jr Varsity Stamps rolled to a shutout at North Halton on July 2nd. The 46-0 score saw Nathan Langley continue to lead the Stamps offence crossing the goal line four times. Other majors were scored by John Nikolovski and Brendan Day. Nikita Buzynskyy booted 6 converts and had a 20 yard field goal plus a rouge. Stamps record improves to 6-0 and the Tide dropped to 3-2.
TWIN CITIES PREDATORS 17, OAKVILLE TITANS 14:
On Saturday, the Twin Cities Predators escaped with a 17-14 win over Oakville Titans.
The Predators move to 3-2 while the Titans are now 2-3.

SARNIA STURGEON 23, TORONTO JR. ARGOS 0:
On Sunday, the Sarnia Sturgeon earned a 23-0 shutout victory over Toronto Jr. Argos.
The Sturgeon improve to 1-5 and the Jr. Argos are winless at 0-5.

HAMILTON VARSITY TIGER CATS 48, VAUGHAN REBELS 7:

The Jr. Varsity Cats started slowly, but eventually subdued the Vaughan Rebels 48-7. The Rebels hit the score sheet first as Spencer Burron recovered a Hamilton fumble in the end zone for the score. Brandon Carreiro added the convert to give Rebels what turned out to be their only points of the game. A conceded safety touch got Hamilton on the board and then pivot Daniel Eldridge hit Drake Bodi on scoring passes of 85 and 45 yards and also hooked up with Spencer Kennedy from 18 yards away. Calvin Kelly (10 yard run), Joshua Perusin (5 yard run) and Carter Routledge (58 yard run) added the other Hamilton majors. Max Sherwood booted field goals from 22 and 28 yards and was good on 4 of his 5 convert attempts. The game was a chippy affair with the two squads combining for 32 penalty flags and 285 penalty yards. Hamilton moved to 4-1 while the Rebels dropped to 1-4.
