Since reformatting to the U-18 age category in 2010, Team Quebec has been the most dominant team, winning the 2011 FCC and coming 2nd in 2010 to Saskatchewan.Β Β This is how we see the day one games unfolding.

Sunday July 15th, 2012 – Game Day 1
Game 1 β Nova Scotia (7) vs. Alberta (2) @ 10:00 pm
Experience versus youth.Β Β Alberta has 8 returning players from their silver medal performance in 2011 and Nova Scotia has three from their 8th place finishing team last year.Β Β Nova Scotia upset Alberta in their return to the FCC in 2010, their only win since returning to the Football Canada Cup.Β Β Can the maritimers pull off the upset this year?Β Β No Jesse Mills, Kadeem Adams, Adam Melanson, or Jacob Leblanc on this team.
Alberta 25 Nova Scotia 7
Game 2 β New Brunswick (8) vs. QuΓ©bec (1) @ 1:00 pm
Welcome back to the FCC New Brunswick.Β Β Your prize for that return is to face Team Quebec in the first round.Β Β Rumour is this may be Quebec’s strongest team since the new age format.Β Β If this is half-true it does not bode well for the team from Canada’s only officially bilingual province.Β Β If NB could forge Josh Sacobie, Jake Thomas and Mike Miller’s driver’s license they may have a chance.Β Β RB Fred Hammond will need 25 carries in this one for his team to be successful.
Quebec 43 New Brunswick 6
Game 3 β Ontario East (5) vs. Saskatchewan (4) @ 4:00 pm
This game could come down to Special Teams, as this may be the most closely contested contest of day 1.Β Β Ontario East has strength at the QB position, and if they can protect them in the pocket, they should have a good day.Β Β Saskatchewan always competes well against Team Ontario East, and Sunday should be no different.
Saskatchewan 24 Ontario East 22
Game 4 β Manitoba (6) vs. Ontario West (3) @ 7:00 pm
No Tyler Varga;Β Β No Brett Weir;Β Β No Will Finch; but this may be Ontario West’s year.Β Β Will have the best back-end in the tournament.Β Β Production at the QB position will be imperative for this teams success.Β Β Traditionally slow starters, if Ontario West can get to the final we like their chances.Β Β Manitoba always has some strong players and may have had the best front 7 in the tournament in 2010.Β Β Offensive production has been the Achilles heal in year’s past, and this year may be no different.
Ontario West 19 Manitoba 10
