Assistant Football Coach (Defense and Offense)
Job Description:
Acadia University, a member of Atlantic University Sport and a Canadian Interuniversity Sport member institution, is currently
accepting resumes for position/assistant position coaches for the 2015 season. This position will be responsible for assisting
the head football coach with on-field coaching, practice preparation, and game planning.
Education/Experience:
Bachelorβs degree preferred; 2 years of coaching experience or equivalent combination of education and playing experience
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
β’ The ability to teach critical skills, regulations, and competitive football strategies and training techniques
β’ Knowledge of or ability to learn current strategies of recruiting and recruiting software
β’ Demonstrated skills in developing and motivating students both academically and athletically
β’ Ability to objectively evaluate physical skills in the areas of physical potential and mental capability
β’ Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing
β’ Proficiency in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications
β’ Ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the University including, but not limited to, student- athletes,
parents, recruits, coaches, athletic training staff, and athletic department staff
β’ Ability to provide effective leadership to student athletes to encourage both successful academic development and
competitive performance
β’ Ability to work within the team oriented philosophy of the department of athletics
β’ Ability to work a flexible schedule
Essential Functions:
β’ Serve as Defensive/Offensive position/assistant position coach
β’ Work to retain successfully recruited athletes
β’ Conduct practice as related to defense/offense in cooperation with the head football coach and defensive/offensive
coordinator
β’ Design and implement weekly game plans, practice plans, scouting reports, and other game related materials
β’ Assist with the daily administrative duties of the program
β’ Promote the welfare and academic progress of student-athletes
β’ Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, to include counseling
team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters, when appropriate
β’ Assist with timely compilation of data, reports, and rosters, as required by the athletic department and university

Commensurate with experience
