Aurora recruit felt Bishop’s “just had a feel like home” (VIDEO)

Aurora offensive lineman joins RESQ team’s 2016 class.

In the coming weeks, Giorgio Venosa will be moving to a neighbouring province to begin the next chapter of career.

The 6’2, 275 pound offensive lineman from Aurora, Ontario committed to Bishop’s Gaiters.  Venosa will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

Academics weighed heavily on his decision to opt for the Gaiters.

“One of the major factors of me going to Bishop’s is the fact that they are one of the top schools academically,” elaborated Venosa.  “I would love to be taught there.”

“Another factor is that it has a feel just like home. When I went on my visit, I felt as though the school was a big community with everyone knowing one another.”

Additionally, Venosa likes the positive direction the Gaiters are headed towards on the field and he wants to play an active role in reversing the team’s fortunes.

“The football team at Bishop’s is an up and coming team,” expressed the lineman.  “They have many young players and this will help them compete in one of the toughest conferences in football.”

“What Coach [Kevin] Mackey is doing there is amazing and I cannot wait to be a part of it.”

This past fall, Venosa was selected as a league All-Star for his play with the St. Maximillian Kolbe Mustangs of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA).  Moreover, he has suited up for the York Region Lions of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
