BLOG: It’s GAME WEEK with playoffs on the line

ITS GAME WEEK!!!!! The 4-1 Sabercats will get on a bus Saturday Morning and head to Torun to play the Angels with the winner making it to the playoffs and the loser needing allot of help to get there.  Here in the PLFA 2 there are 3 conferences North, Central, and South.  As you can see below in the Standings we are in a 3 way tie for first place but based on the tiebreakers at this point we are in 3rd.  When we win on Saturday we will take over 2nd place be in the playoffs and the Angels will be in 4th.  There has been allot of back and forth between the angels and our players in what is the most important game of the year for both teams because whoever loses could end up sitting home for the playoffs and for us it would be the teams first time in the playoffs and doing it in their 2nd year as a team would be a big accomplishment.  The Angles playres are getting in on the action with this little picture he made

There are 21 teams in PLFA2 which got expanded at the beginning of this season.  Polish football is growing very rapidly here and who knows how many more teams will start up next season. This is a very important week of practice for us and I have a friend of mine who I met in India and plays here in Poland for the National Champions Wroclaw Giants coming to help out with our DBs today, Deante Battle.  He played his college football at Northwestern University which is the Harvard of the Big 10 and he has played in Brazil, throughout Europe, and even coaching with me in India 2 years ago.  Hes a great guy and an amazing athlete who loves to help develop football players.  If you want see allot of good football drills, personal coaching, or help with weight training check out his site. Sportstakeoff.  You can also like his facebook page HERE

I also went and checked out the National team camp this weekend as they are getting ready to play the Dutch in a friendly game.

Last weekend I ended up going to the pier in Gdynia because there was a small festival going on and there was also a Mexican ship docked for people to check out. as we walked down to the Pier there was also the finals of the Polish leg of the European 3 on 3 basketball tournament.  They do this all over Europe and the best teams from each country will compete in the championship later down the road.  The of the guys on the team who is one of the team photographers who we call Tebow was there taking pictures for his portfolio.  We walked around the ship for about 20 minutes and when i walked past the kitchen the cooks were making Tacos!!!!.  They smelled so good and I wanted some but they were only for the crew.  Next we walked to where they have a scale model of the full city of Gdynia.  This was really cool to see.  It must have taken forever to make it.  It reminded me of the people who have the train sets in their house with the complete set up from trees, stores, cross guards ect.

For the 3rd weekend Bartek took me to his mom and grandmas house for lunch.  Once again it was just amazing food.  Great salad, steak, dumplings and cabbage.  We also had the best Pear and Orange Ice cream I ever had with chopped up watermelon, bananas, and blue berries.  If I have a choice I would go visit her once or twice a week.  Grandmas cooking is always the best.

Last night on my way home from walking around Sopot and having the first real good burger in Poland (Thanks Authur at Baja California) we stopped at a market where they have a fresh seafood and nothing but fresh produce.  I got just over a pound of Fresh trout for 3 dollars.  We also got everything we needed for a fresh salad.  When we got home Kasia cooked the trout with garlic, lemon and some other stuff and it was great.  I could eat fresh fish every day especially that its so cheap at the shop.
