CEGEP recruit looking ahead to new Carabins chapter

CEGEP defensive back newest recruit to join RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

Alexandre Hardy has made one of the biggest decisions of his gridiron and academic career.

Recently, the 6’1, 185 pound defensive back (free safety) from Val D’Or has signed with the Montreal Carabins.Β  Hardy will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.Β  He will enter the Arts and Sciences program this upcoming January.

For Hardy, it was the right feeling and comfort level he felt with the Carabins.Β  What weighed significantly in his decision was his preferred academic program.

β€œI’ve decided to go to MontrΓ©al University because I felt it was the right place for me,” explained the Quebec defensive back of his decision.Β  β€œI had a good feeling about the Carabins when I visited the CEPSUM this fall, but it all came down to academics.”

β€œMy goal is to be accepted in the pre-med program my freshman year. The academic standards are relatively the same at every university in QuΓ©bec and by playing football at MontrΓ©al, my cote R is upgraded by 1.0, which is significant when you apply for medicine.Β  Beside the academics, the Carabins have a great coaching staff and their football team is very competitive (they will play for the Vanier this week).”

Hardy comes to the Carabins after playing for CEGEP Division 1 team, Campus Notre-Dame-de Foy.Β  This past season, he registered 54 tackles, caught an interception, had two batted down balls and a tackle for a loss.

Overall, the Quebec defensive back is looking forward to the experience of living in Montreal as well as achieving his gridiron goals when he reunites with a former teammate and recent Carabins recruit.

I am pleased to be a Carabin and I am sure I will enjoy my experience in the metropolis,” expressed Hardy.Β  β€œI will certainly live my experience with my teammate, great friend since high school and fellow defensive back Mathieu Boutin.”
