The Vanier defence, led by the outstanding play of #CFC100 Kean Harelimana and #CFC100 Tyris Lebeau, held the cougars to 24 points and defeated the defending champions! The spectacular performance of #CFC100 QB Dimitri Morand was dominant in their win against Garneau! The Faucons are 0-3 and the Titans get their first win!
CNDF #4 RB Luca Perrier
Cégep Lévis-Lauzon Faucons (0-3) vs Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (3-0)
The Faucons came close again and this time with a powerful running game that totalled 245 yards. The majority of the yardage was gained by RB Samuel Cameron who touched the ball 30 times for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. The passing game was the weak link, QB Grégoire Noël completed only 11 out of 27 for a mere 150 yards and 2 interceptions. The Lévis-Lauzon defence improved from last week, but were outmanned by the Notre-Dame running game. For the previous weeks, the Notre-Dame ground game had been almost silent compared to their passing endeavours. The Notre-Dame RB’s, including QB David Pelletier with 30 yards, cumulated 285 yards with Guillaume Vermette carrying the rock 16 times for 141 and Luca Perrier 19 times for 114 yards and a major. The difference maker was, again, Kicker David Côté with a winning field goal at the end of the game for a 30-27 score. Côté did place the football through the uprights 5 out of 6 tries to help his team stay undefeated and on top of the division.
Vanier #4 LB Kean Harelimana
Vanier College Cheetahs (2-1) vs Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars (2-1)
The legs of the Cougars RB Thomas Bertrand-Hudon, 13 carries for 97 yards and a major, and the blocking of #CFC100 Patrick Davis, didn’t muster enough points to win and maintain their number 2 spot. The Champlain offence, led by the arm of QB Guillaume Renaud-Dumoulin, did produce 256 yards passing and 2 touchdowns, but not enough. The Cheetahs defence and #CFC100 LB Kean Harelimana who had an excellent performance again this week with 9.5 total tackles, 1 sack and 3 knock downs, did create a storm around the Cougars young QB who was sacked 3 times and intercepted once. The Vanier offence cumulated over 500 yards and QB Dimitrios Sinodinos had a great day with 396 yards in 22 out of 36 attempts. Receivers Samuel Emilus caught 6 passes for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Abderaman Abdel-Rahim caught 8 passes for 145 yards and a major, were Sinodinos main targets. A few mistakes by the Cougars special teams kept the momentum on the Vanier sideline to propel them to a 49-24 victory.
Cégep Vieux-Montréal Spartiates (1-2) vs Cégep Limoilou Titans (1-2)
The Spartiates new offensive pivot, QB William Roy-Rodriguez, wasn’t too comfortable and did not provide his team the performance expected with 5 completions out of 13 with 30 yards and 2 interceptions. The Titans running game dominated with RB Philippe Genest carrying the load with 35 carries for 218 yards and a touchdown. The Spartiates defence did come away with 2 picks, but was overwhelmed by pounding of Genest, and Limoilou gets their first win in a 30-15 score.
Géants #11 Receiver Benjamin Juteau-Leroux
Cégep Garneau Élans (1-2) vs Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Géants (2-1)
The game started with the Élans receiver/returner Mathieu Blanchette returning the kick-off for a touchdown. Then, the Géants QB, #CFC100 Dimitri Morand, took over and played like a giant. Completing 31 out of 38 for 498 yards, Morand threw 6 touchdowns passes and rushed for 14 yards. His main target was #11 Benjamin Juteau-Leroux who caught 11 passes for 276 yards and 3 majors. The Géants rushed for 154 yards for a total of 652 yards generated by the offence and the defence intercepted the Élans QB Joé Hudon 3 times. Hudon did throw for 340 yards and help score 32 points, which were too far from 52 that the Géants put up to win their second game in their new division.
Collège Montmorency Nomades (0-3) vs Collège André-Grasset Phénix (3-0)
The Nomades were no match for the high powered Phénix team that scored 6 touchdowns in the first half and forcing the end of the game to be played under running time. André-Grasset was productive all around. The damage on offence was created by QB Pierre-Olivier Potvin who completed 14 of 17 passes for 174 yards in only 2 quarters, and RB Samuel Makwanda who touched the football 11 times for 130 yards. And on defence #CFC100 Philippe Lemieux-Cardinal earned another sack. The Phénix is undefeated and the 44-24 win is behind them and a bigger task ahead next week.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
