#CFC10 ONTARIO SUMMER RANKINGS – BANTAM (9): Only one week left, who will finish #1??

Considering the last few weeks we’ve had on the Bantam front, last weekend was relatively quiet. Earlier in the season we alluded to the calm before the storm and that statement couldn’t be more relevant than it is right now. There were no new entries in this week’s edition of the #CFC10 Rankings and the only movement had the Metro Toronto Wildcats dropping four spots from sixth to tenth after their blowout loss at the hands of an angry Myers Riders team. With Metro dropping, the seventh through tenth teams all moved up a spot as both the OVFL and OFC gear up for what should be great playoff stretch. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though, as there is one weekend left and with it a couple of great games on tap.

Myers will get a chance for redemption in “The Capital City Clash Part II” as they host the Cumberland Panthers in a rematch of the 10-7 Cumberland win from only two weeks ago. The 7th ranked Niagara Spears will get a similar opportunity as they will try to avenge a week four 43-23 loss at the hands of the 5th ranked Cambridge Lions. All in all it should be a fun finale to the 2015 bantam season

With one week to go here are the Week 9 #CFC10 Summer Rankings:

BANTAM (UNDER 15) TOP TEN RANKINGS – WEEK 9 (previous week’s ranking in parenthesis)

1) ESSEX RAVENS (1) 7-0 OVFLΒ (did not play) The Ravens should win handily in their finale at Mississauga, setting up the chance for a perfect season.

2) BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (2) 8-0 OFCΒ  (won 26-6 @ Sarnia) The Stamps finish the season unbeaten looking for a perfect season of their own. The ground game led by Josh Munoz is second to none in the province and in the summer heat will wear down opponents in the playoffs. Easily the OFC favourites heading into the postseason.

3) CUMBERLAND PANTHERS (3) 7-0 OVFL (did not play) The Panthers had the week off to prep for the Myers rematch this weekend. That’s three straight weeks off prepping for their crosstown rivals.

4) OTTAWA MYERS RIDERS (4) 6-1 OVFL (won 49-0 @ Metro Toronto) The Riders roared backed with a 49-0 dismantling of the Metro Toronto WIldcats. Linebacker Stephane Tshishimbi contributed with a 65 yard interception return for a touchdown.

5) CAMBRIDGE LIONS (5) 6-1 OVFL (won 52-13 vs. London) Grant Gilmour rushed for 195 yards and four majors in the Lions 52-13 pasting of London. With the win the LIons have the inside track to a first round bye.

6) HURONIA STALLIONS (7) 7-1 OFC (won 55-7 @ Peterborough) The Stallions have won five in a row, the second longest win streak in the OFC after Burlington.

7) NIAGARA SPEARS (8) 5-2 OVFL (won 12-6 vs. Brampton)Β The Spears will try to exact revenge as they host #5 Cambridge.

8) FOREST CITY THUNDERBIRDS (9) 6-2 OFC (won 28-20 vs. Brantford) The Thunderbirds punch their postseason ticket with wins in their last three.

9) TWIN CITIES PREDATORS (10) 6-2 OVFL (won 42-35 vs. Hamilton Hurricanes ) The Preds win a shootout, seem ready for the playoffs.

10) METRO TORONTO WILDCATS (6) 6-2 OVFL (lost 49-0 vs. Myers) Metro needs to regroup in a hurry after a disappointing one-sided loss.
