#CFC10 ONTARIO SUMMER RANKINGS – JV (6): Top Teams Fall in both leagues, leaving the chase wide open!

The Hamilton Hurricanes and Cambridge Lions, both ranked #1 at some point this year, both suffered their first losses of ’15 knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten. Also dropping their first game of the season was the North Halton, who fell to number nine with a 39-16 loss to Peterborough. For the third straight week, plenty of movement so here we go with the #CFC10 Ontario Summer Rankings.

JUNIOR VARSITY (UNDER 17) TOP TEN RANKINGS – WEEK 6 (previous week’s ranking in parenthesis)

1) BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (2) 3-0 OFC  (won 65-0 vs. Sarnia) Nathan Langley scored twice in the first half and QB Kurtis Rourke led the way as the scored four times via the pass. Three weeks inactivity didn’t hurt Burlington as they headed to the locker room up 41-0 at the half. With a heavyweight tilt coming up in two weeks against Hamilton, the Stamps have to guard against looking ahead this week. Next up: @ Brantford

2) LONDON JUNIOR MUSTANGS (3) 5-0 OVFL (won 52-8 vs. SSM) Running back Tazie Vang Bell had 116 yards rushing….on FOUR carries!! For those of you doing the math that’s 29 yards a carry. Next up: Brampton

3) OTTAWA MYERS RIDERS (4) 4-0 OVFL (won 42-27 vs. Oshawa) Running back JP Cimankinda leads the league in rushing….by over 400 yards. With 1082 yards in only four games Cimankinda has displayed the same flashes seen in this spring’s Ontario Prospect Challenge. Next up: Kingston

4) PETERBOROUGH WOLVERINES (5) 5-0 OFC (won 39-16 vs. North Halton) In a game that many thought would go down to the wire, the Wolverines settle down after giving up a TD on the first play from scrimmage and win with surprising ease. Running back Cam Gilmore added two scores in the win. Next up: Huronia

wolverines

5) GUELPH JR GRYPHONS (6) 4-0 OFC (won 31-24 @ Hamilton Hurricanes) We asked how good Guelph is and they showed us.  Next up: Sarnia

6) NIAGARA SPEARS (7) 3-1 OVFL (won 25-12 vs. Cambridge) The Spears bounce back from the London loss and knock Cambridge out of top spot. No time to celebrate as a tough, dangerous Etobicoke team comes to town.  Next up: vs. Etobicoke

7) HAMILTON HURRICANES (5) 3-1 OFC (lost 31-24 vs. Guelph) Hamilton drops two spots with their first loss of 2015. Next up: BYE

8) CAMBRIDGE LIONS (1) 3-1 OVFL (lost 25-12 vs. Niagara) As predicted the Lions fall to Niagara  Next up: Essex

9) NORTH HALTON CRIMSON TIDE (8) 4-0 OFC lost 39-16 vs. Peterborough) The Crimson Tide scored on the first play against the Wolverines…..unfortunately that was the highlight of their afternoon. Next up: BYE

10) TORONTO THUNDER (10) 4-1 OVFL (won 29-14 vs. York Simcoe)  Next up: Metro Toronto

***Honourable Mention***  Cumberland Panthers (OVFL), Toronto Jr. Argos (OFC), Forest City Thunderbirds (OFC), Etobicoke Eagles (OVFL), Durham West Dolphins

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
