#CFC10 Previews & Predictions – JV (10): Two Superpowers square off in a do or die scenario!

#9 HAMILTON HURRICANES (6-2) @Β #7 BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (7-1)Β  – Sun. July 26th 15h00 Nelson Stadium

THE MATCHUP: To no one’s surprise the Hamilton Hurricanes will battle the Burlington Stampeders in the OFC South playoffs. What is surprising however, is the fact they’re meeting in the conference semifinals and not the final. Coming into the season nobody foresaw Guelph knocking off both the Stamps and the Canes en route to an unbeaten season. In week seven the then 5-0 Stamps took to the road to take on the 4-1 Hurricanes and absolutely dismantled the home team, 56-14.

HAMILTON PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Zack Beno, REC Savaughn Magnaye Jones, RB Olivier Muembi,

BURLINGTON PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Kurtis Rourke, RB Nathan Langley, REC Noah Griffith

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: Last year Burlington beat Hamilton in the regular season, but lost in the conference semis and the Hurricanes went on to claim the 2014 crown. That won’t happen this year. Expect Hamilton to put up a much better fight in round two of this matchup, but Burlington is the better team and will take control and pull away in third.

FINAL SCORE: BURLINGTON 42 HAMILTON 24

DURHAM WEST DOLPHINS (3-5) @ #10 CUMBERLAND PANTHERS (6-2) Sat. July 25th 14H00 Millenium Field

THE MATCHUP: A rematch of a week six OVFL Wettges conference battle that saw Cumberland cruise to a 33-0 win. The Panthers seem to have bounced back from their loss against Myers and look poised to make some noise in these playoffs. QB Alex Lawrie led the way last week with his best game of the year going 18 of 23 for 293 yards and 3 TDs. If Lawrie, a dual threat QB gets hot it could be a long afternoon for the Dolphins.

DURHAM WEST PLAYERS TO WATCH: DL Jaiden Cruz, QB William Rock, RB Rasheed Tucker, LB Christian Claros-Ayala, RB/REC Bailey Grimes

CUMBERLAND PLAYERS TO WATCH:Β RB Kian Williams, DL Samuel Obiang, QB Alex Lawrie, REC Willy Dimbongi, LB Charlean Alain

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: The Dolphins will surprise many holding on much longer than expected, but in the end Cumberland will play again next week.

FINAL SCORE: CUMBERLAND 28 DURHAM WEST 10
