#CFC10 ONTARIO SUMMER RANKINGS – JV (3): Teams come and go

Week 2 on the junior varsity front was a quiet one in terms of #CFC10 movement.

Last week, we asked the question whether the Oshawa Hawkeyes are for real, as they cracked the #CFC10. One week later, we can say yes they are; however, not quite with the big boys yet.

A close 15-12 defeat at the hands of the Toronto Thunder knocked the Hawkeyes out of the #CFC10, but showed they belong in the OVFL playoff conversation.

On the OFC side, preseason favourites Hamilton Hurricanes and Burlington Stampeders look good, but not quite as dominant as in past years.

It looks like it could be an interesting year in the OFC.

JUNIOR VARSITY (UNDER 17) TOP TEN RANKINGS – WEEK 3

1) HAMILTON HURRICANES (2-0) OFC (won 18-0 vs. Sarnia) The top ranked Hurricanes keep on rolling, but not quite as dominant we have seen them.

2) CAMBRIDGE LIONS (2-0) OFC (won 35-22 vs. Etobicoke) Elvis Sanchez scored twice and rushed for 90 yards on only 16 carries as the Lions improve to 2-0.

3) BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (2-0) OFC (won 21-7 vs. Twin Cities) After having had their more than two year win streak broken in the finals, the Stamps look poised to regain OFC supremacy. Nathan Langley galloped for 192 yards on 17 carries.

4) MYERS RIDERS (2-0) OFC (won 59-8 vs. Halton) Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) running back JP Cimankinda showed exactly why he is a top prospect as he amassed 205 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

5) PETERBOROUGH WOLVERINES (2-0) (won 72-0 vs. Vaughn) Two year OPC participant Cameron Gilmore tallied twice as the Wolverines looked determined to get over the hump and win the WHOLE thing.

6) LONDON MUSTANGS (2-0) OVFL (won 39-6 vs. Hamilton) Jr. Mustangs run away with this one and look to be in fine form for their OVFL title defense.

7) CUMBERLAND PANTHERS (2-0) OVFL (won vs. Kingston 58-0)

9) NIAGARA SPEARS (2-0) OVFL (did not play)

10) TORONTO THUNDER (1-1) OVFL (won 15-12 vs. Oshawa)

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
