- It was a quiet Thanksgiving weekend outside Ontario with the RSEQ, CanWest and AUS taking time off to spend time with family and stuff their faces with turkey. The main attraction in the OUA was a heavyweight matchup between Windsor and Queen’s with the Lancers finding a way to hold on for a 25-22 victory. Massive win for the Windsor no doubt, but it does come with a big asterisk because the Gaels were playing without their star QB Alex Vreeken, and three interceptions by their backup QB Ashton St. Germain proved to be to much to overcome. Despite the turnovers, St. Germain fought valiantly accounting for three touchdowns including two with his legs, and Queen’s had a real shot at pulling out a W in the fourth quarter, but just couldn’t find a way through the Lancers defence in the final ten minutes. The Windsor offence was led by a huge performance by QB Kareame Cotton, who put the team on his back with 378 total yards including 94 along the ground. He couldn’t have done it without the help of WR Colby Ginn, who was a one man wrecking crew hauling in eight passes for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The win places Windsor in fourth place at 5-2 with a game in hand against Queen’s, Western and McMaster, who are stuck in a logjam at 5-1 atop the standings. The Lancers will now take a week off before closing out the regular season with a huge contest against Guelph, who will take on Queen’s this week in a game that will have massive implications on the playoff seeding.
