#CFC100 CLASS 2016: The “BIG 10” (VIDEO)

Not only is it the days away from school’s out for summer, but it marks the release of the 1st Edition of #CFC100 Class 2016.

With this second list, CanadaFootballChat.com would like to introduce you with those players that are ranked in the TOP 10. Here is the “BIG 10”:

1) PATRICE RENE – 6’1, 190 DB (ONTARIO):

The 6’1, 190 pound defensive back from Ottawa, Ontario has been the most sought after recruit in this year’s class as he has already netted over 20 NCAA including Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Temple, Syracuse, Nebraska, North Carolina, Northwestern, Penn State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Rutgers, Indiana, Akron, Duke and Boston College.

2) CHASE CLAYPOOL – 6’5, 203 ATH (BRITISH COLUMBIA):

The 6’5, 203 pound athlete from Abbotsford, British Columbia is currently suiting up for Abbotsford Collegiate Panthers of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA). Already Claypool has received more than 12 NCAA offers including ones from Arizona Wildcats (May 8th), Mississippi State Bulldogs (May 5th – first SEC offer), Nebraska Huskers (May 4th), Washington Huskies (May 1st),  Oregon Ducks on April 24, Rice Owls (April 15), Nevada Wolfpack, Rutgers, Utah and San Diego State.

His most recent offers came on May 21st. Claypool was offered by both University of Michigan Wolverines and Washington State Cougars the same day.

There is no rest for the CFC #2 ranked player as he will be participating in 7 on 7 events, Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy in Dakota as well as taking in official visits to Michigan and Michigan State.

Of note – should Claypool signs with Michigan, he will be the first Canadian since 2007 to opt for the NCAA school. The last to sign there was Montrealer Ronaldo Sagesse.

3) DANIEL JOSEPH – 6’4, 250 DL (ONTARIO):

The 6’4, 250 pound defensive lineman from Brampton, Ontario is currently attending Lake Forest Academy in Illinois.  Lake Forest is a school that may sound familiar as 2015 CFC #2 Wesley Annan went there and eventually signed on with Stanford.

Joseph has recently numerous NCAA offers including Bowling Green, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, New Mexico, Penn State, Rutgers, Stanford, Syracuse, Toledo and Vanderbilt.

This summer, he will travel to Indiana to participate in the British Invasion Camp which will be hosted by Notre Dame

Previous to Lake Forest Academy, Joseph played for Brampton Bulldogs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

The CFC # 3 ranked player’s older brother is Iowa Hawkeyes defensive lineman Faith Ekakitie.

4) NATHAN ROURKE – 6’2, 190 QB (ONTARIO):

5) JESSE MEYLER – 6’5, 285 OL (ONTARIO):

The towering 6’5, 285 pound offensive lineman from Toronto, Ontario has already committed to a school for 2016.  After receiving an offer from NCAA Division 1’s Northwestern Wildcats, he gave a verbal commitment to the team on May 23rd (FYI – he cannot officially sign until NCAA Signing Day in February 2016).

Currently, Meyer is suiting up alongside CFC #1 Patrice Rene with Episcopal Maroon in Alexandria, Virginia.

Previous to the Maroon, the offensive lineman played for both the Sir Wilfrid Laurier Blue Devils of the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA) and Toronto Thunder of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

6) DESHAWN STEVENS – 6’2, 226 LB (ONTARIO):

The 6’2, 226 pound linebacker from Etobicoke, Ontario recently completed his first season with Connecticut Prep team, Kent Lions.

Stevens began his gridiron journey with the North York Grizzlies Association.  Among the other teams he has played for include the Metro Toronto Wildcats of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and Don Bosco Eagles of the Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association (TDCAA).

The defensive standout has received numerous honours during his career including seven Defensive MVP and three Overall MVP Awards.

At this point, a handful of NCAA teams have already expressed interest in Stevens including Buffalo, Connecticut, Duke, Georgia Tech and Massachusetts.

7) AMEN OGBONGBEMIGA – 6’1, 210 LB (ALBERTA):

On May 29th, the 6’1, 210 pound linebacker from Calgary, Alberta received his first NCAA offer. The Nevada Wolfpack offered the defensive standout.

His first official NCAA Division 1 offer caps off a successful spring.  Recently, he was selected as a Calgary Area Midget Football Association (CAMFA) All-Star for his season with the Hilltoppers.

This past fall, Ogbongbemiga guided the Notre Dame Pride of the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA) to their third consecutive Provincial Tier 1 Championship. Additionally, he was selected as a Calgary Division 1 All-Star.

8) WADE CYR – 6’5, 303 DT (QUEBEC):

The 6’5, 303 pound defensive tackle from Deux-Montagnes, Quebec is currently playing with CEGEP Division 1 team, Vanier Cheetahs.

Cyr has also represented the nation as a member of Team Canada’s under-19 squad. He has also previously suited up for Laurentides-Lanaudiere Wildcats.

9) DOMENICO CIPRIANI – 6’4, 275 DT (ONTARIO):

The 6’4, 275 pound defensive tackle from Toronto, Ontario is attending Bradenton, Florida’s IMG Academy.

Previous to IMG, Cipriani played north of the border for Villanova College Knights of the Conference Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA).

10) LIAM DOBSON – 6’4, 280 DT (ONTARIO):

The 6’4, 280 pound defensive tackle from Ottawa, Ontario recently went south of the border to visit University of Notre Dame.

In May, Dobson participated in the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OFC) as a member of Team East’s Varsity squad.

Dobson has suited up for St. Mark’s Lions of the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA).
