Cole Burniston 2015

Cole Burniston – ATH, 6’3, 215 lbs

Canisius HS, Buffalo, NY

From Niagara Falls, Cole was predominantly a RB in 2016 for his high school. We have classified him as an ATH for the 2017 class because we believe he has the skill set to be an exceptional inside receiver in 12-Man football. He has solid hands and a outstanding frame that would transfer well to the Canadian game.

Trew Dancey

Trew Dancey – REC/DB, 6’2, 185 lbs

New Westminster SS, New Westminster, BC

Trew is an inside receiver who plays the wing position in the Wing-T so most of his plays are in the run game, however, it gives you a great opportunity to see what he can do with the football in space. In one game this year, he had 5 rushing TD’s and 1 receiving TD. He’s tall and still growing and has the type of frame that could easily push up to 200+ lbs. On top of being an outstanding offensive player, he also carries those same play-making skills to the defensive side of the ball. I think he has the potential to be a great SAM in the CIS.

Jeremie Dominique

Jérémie Dominique – DB, 6’2, 190 lbs

Vieux Montreal Spartiates, Montreal, QC

Dominique is a big, tall, long corner who competes at a high level and is always making plays on the ball. He has a knack for separating receivers from the ball. I think he has the size and speed to play anywhere in the secondary we had a chance to evaluate him at cornerback and free safety. This kid is an intense competitor who is not afraid to let his opponent know when he is playing well.

Shedler Fervius3

Shedler Fervius – REC, 6’2, 190 lbs

Toronto Thunder, Scarborough, ON

Shedler is an outstanding playmaker and one of the better athletes in this class after the catch. Because of his quickness and height, and his ability to make people miss with his cuts, it seems like every time he touches the ball, he makes a big play. On top of that, he’s not afraid to get physical when blocking downfield. He’s not as fast as some of the other prospects on this list, but he is every bit a big-time playmaker.

Jacob Izquierdo 4

Jacob Izquierdo – REC, 6’3, 210 lbs

St. Francis, Calgary, AB

Jacob is an extremely athletic inside receiver. This kid was built to play in the CFL. He can run routes, he is fast enough to run away from just about everyone on the football field, he is an outstanding special teams player. He’s probably the best football player in this class. Most of the other players are outstanding athletes who play football; I think he’s an outstanding football player who’s a great athlete.

Terrell Jana

Terrell Jana – REC, 6’1, 185 lbs

Woodberry Forest HS, Woodberry Forest, VA

By way of Burnaby, BC, Terrell Jana is probably the top athlete in the 2017 class. He made his way on the 2016 list, but we have re-classified him because of his age. Terrell has played multiple positions from RB, DB, and this last year, he was an All-State receiver in VA. He is another Canadian who is nationally ranked in the USA at his position. On top of that, he is ranked the #2 REC in the state of VA and at this point has 6 NCAA offers including the University of Virginia and Maryland.

Nick Mardner 1

Nick Mardner – REC, 6’5, 190 lbs

St. Thomas Aquinas, Oakville, ON

Mardner is the tallest of all the athletes on this list. Like most of them, he is an outstanding big-play receiver. He makes, what I call, freak plays meaning a play that you didn’t think was going to happen and somehow happened. When you see how tall he is, you automatically think he can’t be that fast. For being 6’5, he is extremely quick and can move his body very well. I also like the way he’s not afraid to come back and block for his teammates. Out of all the players on this list, because of his height, I find him the most interesting.

Joshua Palmer

Joshua Palmer – REC, 6’2, 185 lbs

St. Thomas Aquinas, Fort Lauderdale, FL

A Brampton product, Josh is a big, tall, fast, athletic receiver who already has 9+ NCAA offers, which by now, could be more. These offers are highlighted by the Michigan Wolverines. He is ranked the 95th best WR in the USA, the 15th ranked WR in Florida, and is on our Top 10 list. Josh is arguably the top outside receiver in the #CFC100 CLASS 2017.

Jonathan Sutherland

Jonathan Sutherland – DB, 6’0, 190 lbs

Episcopal HS, Alexandria, VA

Originally from Ottawa, Jonathan is a 4-star recruit and is the best defensive player in the 2017 recruiting class. He has 24+ NCAA offers; most of these offers are from major college programs. When I watched his film, I thought I was watching a reincarnation of Ed Reed. If I was the Miami Hurricanes, I would tell him he’s the next Ed Reed, give him Reed’s jersey #, and then let him become one of the best free safety’s to ever play at Miami. Jonathan is awesome.

Khalil Wilson

Khalil Wilson – ATH/DB, 5’11, 160 lbs

Don Bosco, Etobicoke, ON

When I watched Khalil’s film, the first thing that came to mind was playmaker, playmaker, and playmaker. This kid is an outstanding football player on both sides of the ball. He competes with each snap and from the film; I got the impression that he understands the game. The fact that on his film he played multiple positions on both sides of the ball was probably one of the things that impressed me the most.
