He might’ve had to wait a little longer than some other prospects to receive the phone call, but it was a special moment for CFC100 DB Jonathan Sutherland out of Penn State, who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Ottawa, ON native spent six seasons in Happy Valley where he totaled 137 tackles, one interception, six pass deflections, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two blocks. Sutherland was also a superstar off the field earning Academic All-Big Ten honours his final three years on campus, and received the the Bob Mitinger Memorial Award in 2020 for courage, character and social responsibility, plus the Captainβs Award in 2019.
Sutherland completed his high school career at Episcopal High School in Virginia, and helped lead the Maroons to the Interstate Athletic Conference Championship in 2016. He finished as the third ranked prospect on the CFC100 Class of 2017 Rankings.Β
