CFC100 QB Hetlinger commitment update

Better late than never right? With the latest wave of commitment news, it’s time we caught up with CFC100 Eli Hetlinger out of CFC50 Harry Ainlay, who announced his intentions to play at Alberta earlier in the summer.

If you were paying attention to our coverage this week, you’ll notice we mentioned CFC100 Cody Neumann and Albert Reese IV brought their total to three from the Class of 2020. It’s a hot start to the cycle for Alberta, who’s taken an early lead and don’t appear to be stopping anytime soon.

The 6’0″, 175lbs pivot has thrown for 5992 yards, 66 touchdowns, completed 63.8% of his passes, and compiled a 25-1 record overall after two years as the starter at Harry Ainlay. He led the Titans to the Tier 1 Alberta Provincial title in 2017, earning himself Rookie of the Year honours in the process, and a spot on the CFC All-Canadian Team last season.

The numbers led to a lot of interest from schools on both sides of the border including Montana, Eastern Washington and Minot State in the NCAA. On the U Sports side, he also received interest Ottawa, Queen’s, St. Mary’s, UBC, Regina, McGill, Western and Concordia. He led the Titans to the Tier 1 Alberta Provincial title in 2017, earning himself Rookie of the Year honours in the process, and a spot on the CFC All-Canadian Team last season.

Hetlinger grew up playing for the Edmonton Chargers of the CDMFA winning the provincial title three times, and the Most Outstanding Player award six times. He also helped lead Team Burris to victory at the inaugural CFC Prospect Game played at TD Place Stadium.
