No. 1 Holy Trinity Academy Knights (3-0) – The Knights of Okotoks have come out hard in Tier 2 of the Alberta high school football scene. With scores of 45-20, 41-0, and the most recent against Medicine Hat of 21-4, Holy Trinity is well on its way to going deep into the playoffs…yes, we said it, playoffs. They will have to beat Foothills Comp. this weekend to carry on in their quest.

No. 2 Bishop J. Mahoney Saints (1-0, 0-1) – BJM had an impressive win in Saskatoon against Evan Hardy this past weekend coming up with the win, 49-7. The loss of the first week against the CFC50 Holy Cross, seemed to have given them the kick they needed to work out some kinks and get things firing in all phases of the game. This upcoming game is the one we are keeping our eye on as they face CFC25 No. 9 Marion Graham. Graham also played Evan Hardy with a win of 21-9… you be the judge, but we say BJM takes this one.
No. 3 Cochrane Cobras (3-0) – The Cobras have yet to have some of their starters play a full game. With wins of 47-7 and 51-0, they won’t have it so easy this weekend as they face the CFC50 Raymond Comets. You may recall the the Cobras, a tier 3 team, took a leap of faith and played CFC50 No. 2 St. Francis (Calgary T1) last year where they were holding their own for a good part of the game. With a loss of 53-26 in that game last year, Raymond has also played Francis this year and faired a bit better with a 24-14 loss. Cochrane is going to have to pull all the ponies out of the barn and charge from the start if they are to get this victory.
No. 4 Collège Bourget Voltigeurs (2-0) – The Voltigeurs defeated former No. 22 Collège de Lévis 30-14 sending them into the top 5 this week. This week is key as they play No. 17 Collège Laval. Both teams are undefeated at 2-0. With 76 PF and 35 PA, Bourget has a slightly better point differential as Laval has 55 PF and 27 PA. It’s a good game to keep your eye on and one that could drastically affect next week’s rankings.
No. 5 Vernon Panthers (1-0, 1-0) – And now we head out the west coast interior where the AA Provincial Champions continue to dominate. With a shutout, 40-0, against Holy Cross, the Panthers are a well oiled machine. They head into this weekend on a bye before they face Clarence Fulton on Friday, Sept. 27.

Who’s getting ranked?
For the first time, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national ‘Small School’ high school football rankings known as the CFC25.
The CFC25 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are classified as non-conference games) and forfeit* wins are not considered towards overall record.
How is the CFC25 evaluated?
Leagues/teams included in rankings:
- British Columbia: AA Varsity
- Alberta: Tier 2-4
- Saskatchewan: 12-man 3A rural, Saskatoon – 5A, Regina – Stewart
- Manitoba: Division 2 and 3 Varsity
- Ontario: NSSAA – Haldimand-Norfolk, BAA – Bluewater, COSSAA – Kawartha, COSSAA – Bay of Quinte, LRFL – Lanark-Refrew, LGSSAA – Brockville, EOFC – Cornwall
- Quebec: Juvenile Division 1b
- New Brunswick: 12-man D2E and D2W
- Nova Scotia: Parkview, Millwood, West Kings, Central Kings, Halifax West, Horton, JL Isley, Sydney Academy, Avon View
The CFC25 is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers small school leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie. CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.
The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The CFC25 is released every Tuesday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.
