HEADLINES
Saskatchewan
- Saskatoon have inter-locking schedules between the 6A and 5A divisions this season, and it’s led to some surprising results. We knew Aden Bowman was a force to be reckon with after their victory over last year’s 5A Provincial champions Bishop J. Mahoney, but they took it to the next level this week with a shocking 29-20 victory over 6A powerhouse Holy Cross. Unfortunately, Bishop J. Mahoney didn’t enjoy the same experience against the defending 6A Saskatoon champions St. Joseph, who ran away with the 34-6 victory.

Alberta
- It’s always the top showdown in the Rocky View Sports Association, and this time around George McDougall got the best of Cochrane in a 24-15 victory. The win catapults the Mustangs into the top ten, but they know there’s a good chance this won’t be the last time they’ll have to fend off the Cobras with the playoffs on the horizon. George McDougall also made the bold move to declare for the Tier I provincial playdowns midway through the season, but we will continue to classify them on the Small School Rankings for the remainder of 2023.
Quebec
- Dalbe-Viau remain unbeaten after securing a 20-7 victory over College Laval in a Bol d’Or rematch. It’s their closest margin of victory to date, and even though the Aigles d’Or came away victorious, they know they can’t sleep on College Laval come playoff time.
- It hasn’t been a masterpiece every week, but Estacades just keep winning adding another tally in the win column with their 17-7 victory over Roger-Comtois. Now they prepare for a massive test with first place in the Eastern Conference on the line against Saint-Joseph, who enter the game as the only other undefeated program after defeating Pointe-Levy.
Manitoba
- We’ve been waiting for Beaver Brae and Fort Frances to meet between the white lines, and for now the advantage goes to Beaver Brae, who fought their way to a 22-15 victory to take over sole possession of first place in the AAA Division. We have a sneaky feeling this won’t be the last time these two meet on the field, and next time there will be some hardware awarded to the winners.
Ontario
- Ontario always starts their season later than the rest of the country, but we’ve finally got a pair of well-deserved representatives ready to leave their mark on the rankings. Oakridge are members of the Walzak Division in London, and have been dominant in their first three games outscoring their opponents 129-14. Our other newcomer Lo-Ellen hails from Sudbury, where they’ve got a stranglehold on the division outscoring their opponents 156-15 through four games.
