CFC27 Update (3): Marauders hope 2017 class will return them to the Vanier

The final push for this year’s U Sports recruiting season is in full swing. All U Sports teams are fully up to date with today’s update of the CFC27 U Sports Recruiting Rankings.

After last week’s update, the top two spots remained the same, not so this week. While the Calgary Dinos do hold on to the number one spot for total rankings with 40 commits, McMaster, who you will recall moved into the top five last week, jumped into the number two spot for total rankings.

McMaster announced their full 2017 defensive class this past week and have in total 50 commits on their board. They have effectively recruited a whole other football team as they head into the spring a little light on numbers at several positions. You cannot ignore the fact, however, that the majority of these young men are outstanding prospects. They will have a lot of talent to work with for a few years.

British Columbia sits in the third spot and is gaining a bit of ground, points wise, on the two teams above them and also are in fourth spot in the average per player rankings. Their class continues to grow with quantity and quality.

Western and Montreal stay in the top 5 for total rankings. With only 25 total commits in the Carabins recruiting class it continues to say a lot about the calibre of player that they have managed to get.

Calgary sits in the middle of the two RSEQ powerhouses, Laval and Montreal, with the UBC Thunderbirds and Western rounding out the bottom of the average per player rankings.

For the remainder of the list, we see Concordia and SMU move up for their average per player ranking. Another interesting move is Queen’s who added some recruits this past week and which has made an impact.

*CFC employs a point system based on the recruits declared in the recruiting class on CFC:

  • Schools declare recruits at different times of year (i.e. Quebec schools recruit most in January, higher academic school entries are later, etc) so make sure you equate the amount of recruits with the point system
  • Players are rated based on (a) CFC100 ranking (b) 4-star ranking (c) 3-star ranking (d) all other players get a NR
  • Transfers are NOT allocated points as of 2016-2017 as they would have acquired points in their original class year. They will be listed on the ‘Transfer List’.
  • CFC27 is updated once per week
