After a long journey from British Columbia to California that finally ended in Oregon, CFC40 defensive back Jevon Holland was selected 36th overall in the 2nd round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. Holland earns the distinction as not only the first Canadian off the board, but he’s also the first safety to be selected in a very impressive draft class.
From Quincy Forde’s Path to the Draft Series
“Itβs our top-ranked draft prospect that weβll be highlighting today, Jevon Holland of the Oregon Ducks. Holland was born in and lived in Coquitlam, B.C. until the age of 8 when he moved to California. The slot cornerback, safety, punt returner, whatever you want to call him, out of Oregon had 108 tackles, 9 interceptions, and 10 pass breakups through his true freshman and sophomore seasons for the Ducks. He was a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist last year (the award that goes to the best defensive back in the country), in addition to being first-team All-Pac-12 … so yeah, heβs pretty good.”
Draft Outlook From November 16th: Jevon Holland is a lock to go in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft, where heβll likely be seen primarily as a slot-coverage guy, although his versatility positionally is reminiscent of that of Tyrann Mathieu.
