Bev Facey Falcons vs. Bellerose Bulldogs
Friday, Oct. 20 @ 6:00pm., Riel Park Turf Field (St. Albert)
CFC50 Bellerose Bulldogs (4-2) will be ending their season battling defending Tier 1 Carr Conference champions, the Bev Facey Falcons (3-3). Uncharacteristically, the Falcons are sitting in fifth place which is an unfamiliar feeling for the three-time reigning team.
Last week, Bev Facey fell short a single point against the Jasper Place Rebels (14-13). Although the boys were battling hard, the mistakes caught up to them in the end and they could not come up with the win they desperately needed to stay out of hot water for this week.Β Their biggest challenge this week is to keep their composure in this high intensity situation.
Losing to Bellerose this week will blow up Bev Faceyβs chance for playoffs and for the first time in three years, there will be a new Metro Edmonton division champion.
The Bulldogs are coming off a strong 42-6Β win against the Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds. Most of those points from the arm of senior quarterback, Quade Kozak. With 5 touchdown throws, Kozak also provided 85 rushing yards.
In his last year of football, Kozak is hitting all the necessary steps to impress and show off talent in rushing, receiving and punting.
On defence, Bronson Wilke went big with 8 tackles against the Rebels. Currently leading his team with the most tackles, Wilke is an aggressive linebacker and will be utilized next season as one of the top defensive Bulldogs of the team.
This will certainly be a nail bitter for Bev Facey as their fate is up for grabs and the Bulldogs are not looking to lose out to the ‘former’ top team.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
