….and now let’s get to it with this week’s #CFC50 Games of the Week PREVIEW

The Condors and Harfangs face off for the number three spot! Can QB/RB Tristan Blais and Collège Lévis conquer the Saint-Stanislas defence and grab the number four spot!

Saint Jean-Eudes DB #2 Théo Boutin

Saint Jean-Eudes Condors (3-2) vs École Secondaire Triolet Harfangs (3-2) The matchup of the weekend involves two teams with the same record and fighting for the number three spot in their division. The Condors, just coming off an excruciating loss against the Blizzard, will be anxious to find their winning edge again. Their offence struggled without RB Émile Malenfant and they will need to generate some points to square off with the Triolet’s offence. The Harfangs, who were off last week, will put everything on the line to win this one and double threat QB Lukas Boulanger has been directing the squad brilliantly, putting a lot of points on the scoreboard which positions them at number 2 in that category. The Condors defence, led by DB Théo Boutin who leads the team in tackles, is tied in third place for points against and will have to compensate for their inefficient offence. It is going to be a tight one, but the Harfangs will prevail due to their rested team.

mathieu-leboeuf
Estacades RB #7 Mathieu Leboeuf

Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard (5-0) vs Académie Les Estacades (2-4) Traveling to Trois-Rivières Friday night, the Blizzard will face a team that needs a win to secure a spot in the playoffs. The Estacades offence will need everything they have, especially from the running game with RB Mathieu Leboeuf, to manage the clock and keep the ball away from Saint-François RB Kalenga Muganda and the rest of their offence. Muganda has been terrorising defences and now leads the division with 946 yards and is averaging 13.1 per carry. The Blizzard offence is number one in points for and has multiple weapons to overcome the Aigles’ defence to remain undefeated after six games.

Académie Saint-Louis Arsenal (1-5) vs École Sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups (2-3) Both teams lost in tight games last week, but the Loups were facing the Cactus, while the Arsenal was playing the winless Roger-Comtois Patriotes. The Curé-Antoine-Labelle defence will need to stop the Arsenal QB/RB Charles Goulet, who completed 12 out of 31 for 269 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 picks and a rushing touchdown last week, in order to win this one. The Arsenal defence sits at the bottom of the division in points against and should the Loups’ offence function on all cylinders, they will be at 3-3 at the end of the game.

Jean-Eudes DB #14 Julian Nelson

Collège Jean-Eudes Aigles (2-3) vs École Sec. Roger-Comtois Patriotes (1-4) The Patriotes won their first game and are now looking to improve their record with a win at home against a Jean-Eudes team that comes into Québec City with a positive vibe after defeating the Estacades last Saturday. Roger-Comtois’ offence and RB Gabriel Savard will meet a defensive front that gave up 201 yards on the ground to the Estacades last week, and a DB squad, including #14 Julian Nelson, that has excelled at keeping receivers away from the end zone, giving up only 7 majors via the air in 5 games. The Aigles had to replace their starting QB and substitute Étienne Laurence-Gervais stepped in successfully, completing 11 out of 22 for 132 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 picks, to come away with a win last week and most likely another one this weekend.

Juvénile 1b

École Sec. Pointe-Lévy Corsaires (2-3) vs École Sec. Armand-Corbeil Scorpions (5-1) The Pointe-Lévy offence struggled last week and will need to keep the Scorpions offence off the field if they want to have a chance at winning this one. The Armand-Corbeil offence is ranked first with 231 points for, with two receivers standing on top for most yards, #87 Gabriel Leblanc and #82 Eric Lachance, and they also have a devastating running game that manages the clock pretty good. The Corsaires’ defence will be the scale tipper and the odds are for the Scorpions to win this one.

philippe-johnson
Deux-Montagnes LB #43 Philippe Johnson

Poly. Deux-Montagnes Centurions (0-5) vs École Sec. Jacques-Rousseau Sphinx (0-5) Who will remain winless? The Centurions offence, directed by QB Olivier Pineau, who completed 11 out of 27 for 139 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception, and supported by RB Vincent Desjardins, who rushed for 107 yards on 9 carries, is the unit that will make them a 1-5 team at the end of the contest. The Sphinx defence will be good, but their offence will not be able to put enough points on the board to beat Deux-Montagnes.

charles-cossette
Saint-Joseph QB #9 Charles Cossette

Collège Laval Maraudeurs (5-0) vs Séminaire Saint-Joseph Vert et Or (3-2) The Vert et Or defence might slow down the electrifying Maraudeurs attack, but won’t stop them from scoring a lot of points. In order for the Vert et Or to have a chance at winning, their offence needs to score a lot of points and maintain possession of the ball. The Saint-Joseph QB/RB, Charles Cossette, needs to have an awesome game and so do the defensive starters. The Collège Laval defence showed some weaknesses last week and Cossette might be able to take advantage for a few points, but QB Jonathan Sénécal has the tools around him to score fast, making this a big challenge for the Vert et Or to conquer. The Maraudeurs will remain undefeated.

tristan-blais2
Commandeurs QB #12 Tristan Blais

École Sec. Saint-Stanislas Patriotes (3-2) vs Collège de Lévis Commandeurs (3-3) The Patriotes defence was on fire last week and will face adversity this week with QB/RB Tristan Blais, who leads the division in passing yards with 1843 and is second in rushing with 799 yards. The Saint-Stanislas offence should be able to put up some points against the Lévis defence that was overwhelmed last week by the Maraudeurs and the fact that they are second last in points against, does not help their cause. Should be an offensive confrontation and the Patriotes defence will provide enough stops to prevail and bring their record to 4-2.
