….and now let’s get to it with this week’s #CFC50 Games of the Week PREVIEW

École Secondaire Triolet QB #8 Lukas Boulanger

Hot and Cold! Notre-Dame versus Jean-Eudes collide in Montréal rivalry. Couple of great matchups approaching the playoffs and some teams must win to get in!

École Secondaire Triolet WR #7 Gabriel Boulanger

Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard (6-0) vs École Secondaire Triolet Harfangs (4-2) After seven weeks of competition, we all know who is who, and this matchup is the excitement of the weekend considering the facts behind these two teams! The undefeated and dominating Blizzard standing on top of the division, are statistically the best offence with 275 points, with RB Kalenga Muganda’s leading the division in rushing with 1078 yards, and the best defence with 48 points against. The Séminaire Saint-François has not been challenged yet and their perfect season is at risk. The Harfangs climbed to number three and they have the number one ranked QB, Lukas Boulanger who is in first place with 1248 passing yards and with an amazing 2 interceptions. They also have the number one WR, Gabriel Boulanger averaging 21.2 yards per catch with a total of 572 yards and 8 touchdowns. With a convincing win last week, the Triolet is pumped and ready to take Saint-François down from their pedestal.

emile-malenfant
Saint Jean-Eudes RB #21 Émile Malenfant

École Sec. Roger-Comtois Patriotes (1-5) vs Saint Jean-Eudes Condors (3-3) Saint Jean-Eudes is going through a slump and the Patriotes could pounce on the occasion to improve their chances of making the playoffs. The Roger-Comtois offence has not been producing many points, but the dual threat QB, Vincent Richard, could create some damage. The Condors running game has the potential to dominate if RB Émile Malenfant has a great day. Good duel and the Patriotes should come out strong in order to climb in the standings, but the Condors shold win this one.

anthony-renault
Curé-Antoine-Labelle RB #28 Anthony Renault

Académie Les Estacades Aigles (2-5) vs École Sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups (3-3) Les Estacade are playing for a spot in the playoff race and Curé-Antoine-Labelle would love to host the first round. The Loups are tied for fourth place with two other teams and a win would help them in the process of securing that spot. Their offence was ignited last week by the performances of RB Anthony Renault who rushed for 147 yards on 18 carries. The Aigles endured a tough loss last week, even though their defensive front slowed down the Blizzard offence, their attack is going to have to create some scoring opportunities to beat the Loups at home.

notre-dame

Collège Notre-Dame Cactus (5-1) vs Collège Jean-Eudes Aigles (3-3) This 514 area code rivalry has a long history and both clubs will be all wired up for this one. One of the three tied for fourth place, the Aigles will square off against a well rested Notre-Dame team who is coming off a bye week. The Cactus’ offence has been dominating on the ground and their defence is ranked second in points against, which makes this game, a contest of opposites. The Aigles’ offence is in second place in passing yards and their defence leads in sacks with Félix Boucher and Edward Topping ranked #1 and #2 with a combined 9 total QB takedowns. The Cactus should control the clock and if they can stop QB Arnaud Desjardins, they will win the Metropolitan rumble.

Juvénile 1b

charles-cossette2
Séminaire Saint-Joseph QB #9 Charles Cossette

Collège Charles-Lemoyne Dynamiques (3-3) vs Séminaire Saint-Joseph Vert et Or (3-3) These two teams, and Saint-Stanislas, are tied in fourth place and this game is of great importance for that spot. With a bye last week, the Dynamiques will be prepared for this confrontation of defences, both ranked at number three and four in points against, with an extra week of preparation to face the Vert et Or QB/RB Charles Cossette. The Saint-Joseph defence had an encouraging game a week ago, limiting the high powered Maraudeurs offence to 24 points and they will be able to scramble to limit the Charles-Lemoyne offence and come away with a win.

jeremie-racine
Collège Laval LB #52 Jérémie Racine

Collège Laval Maraudeurs (6-0) vs École Sec. Pointe-Lévy Corsaires (2-4) With only four teams entering the playoff race, the Corsaires are on a thin rope right now and are facing Goliath this Saturday. The odds are very slim, considering the Maraudeurs offence is ranked number 2 and their defence, directed by LB Jérémie Racine who has 25 total tackles, 3 sacks and 3 picks, is first in points against. Pointe-Lévy will have the home advantage, but that should not make a big difference and the Maraudeurs should remain undefeated.

brendon-bergeron
Armand-Corbeil DB #24 Brendon Bergeron second in the division with 45 total tackles

École Sec. Armand-Corbeil Scorpions (6-1) vs Poly. Deux-Montagnes Centurions (1-5) The possibility of making the playoffs still exist for the Centurions, but the way the Scorpions have been playing, we can close that book. The Armand-Corbeil offence leads in almost every category, first in scoring, second in passing yards, first and second in receiving yards, first and fourth in rushing, and their defence second in total tackles and second in interceptions. If you believe in miracles, Deux-Montagnes needs one.

patriotes
Saint-Stanislas Patriotes

École Sec. Jacques-Rousseau Sphinx (0-6) vs École Sec. Saint-Stanislas Patriotes (3-3) The Patriotes are playing to squeeze in the playoffs and the Sphinx have nothing to lose. Saint-Stanislas lost a tight game against Lévis last week and with it, lost the number 4 spot. They cannot slip the rest of the season and with the motivation of making the playoffs, look for them to dominate Jacques-Rousseau early in the contest to secure the win.
