Chaos is the word of the week after a top ten program falls, and five new programs shake up the rankings.

Editors Note: After a hazing incident was uncovered at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School in London, their season opener against Catholic Central was ruled a 35-0 forfeit. Laurier will be removed from the CFC50 Rankings until the TVRA Athletic Board comes to a decision on the future of the program this season.
HEADLINES
Quebec
- The margins are slim at the top of the Juvenile DI division, and the latest victim is Seminaire-Saint-Francois, who saw their undefeated record and top ten spot shattered with a 31-21 loss to College Bourget. The other headline from this week’s action was Armand-Corbeil defeating College Notre-Dame 33-27 in overtime, and this has caused a complete reshuffle for Quebec programs on the list with the top six programs all taking turns beating each other, and as of right now it’s anybody’s guess who the Bol d’Or favourites are. We will hopefully get some clarity this week with three massive matchups featuring Saint-Francois taking on College Notre-Dame, College Bourget taking on Cure-Antoine-Labelle, and Armand-Corbeil battling Saint-Jean-Eudes. All eyes will be on the Condors who are the only undefeated team left atop the division.
Ontario
- We got used to the status quo in Windsor with W.F. Herman and Holy Names running the show, then Belle River appeared with a stellar campaign last year to take top honours in one of the toughest regions in Ontario. Well, we might be back to regular programming with Holy Names defeating Belle River 21-8 in their season opener, but that doesn’t mean we are counting out the Nobles from here. After week one, it looks like the WECSSAA Tier I division will be an absolute dog fight for the championship belt with the largest margin of victory being just 13 points.

Alberta
- You never know what can happen when rivals meet between the white lines, but Harry Ainlay wasn’t interested in any theatrics with a punishing 39-0 victory over Salisbury. It looks like the Titans are going to cruise to another Metro Edmonton title, but will need to stay locked in for the inevitable turbulence that will arrive when they reach the Provincial playdowns with Raymond and Ernest Manning waiting for their chance to strike.
- While Ernest Manning are the favourites in Calgary right now, everyone will need to keep an eye on St. Francis, who are still undefeated after a 35-0 victory over Centennial. Notre Dame was no match for Ernest Manning, but they bounced back with a clutch 26-21 victory over All Saints, so we are going to get a much better idea of where St. Francis stands in the title race with back-to-back matchups with All Saints and Notre Dame, then a showdown with Ernest Manning to close out their regular season schedule.
Saskatchewan
- Miller continued their unbeaten streak with an easy win over O’Neill, but they now have a new challenger in Regina who could potentially cause trouble after Campbell scrapped their way to 22-13 victory over LeBoldus. The Tartans will be looking to carry the momentum against a tough squad from Riffel, and then throw all their chips in the middle of the table with a showdown against the Marauders in two weeks.
Manitoba
- We thought there was a sliver of hope that Vincent Massey could compete for the title, but Dakota laughed in our faces with a dominant 47-16 performance against the Trojans. It looks like it’ll be another two horse race with St. Paul’s this year, and we will get the perfect preview with the Lancers taking on the Crusaders in two weeks.
CFC PROSPECT GAME/CFC SELECTION CAMP NOMINATIONS
British Columbia
- While nobody was truly expecting St. Thomas More to defeat Vancouver College, the 55-14 blowout paints a clearer picture of just how far away the Knights are from the top of the pile right now. It looks like G.W. Graham might be their only true contender this year, and thankfully we aren’t going to have to wait long to find out with the Irish and Grizzlies going toe-to-toe this week in a championship rematch to kickoff the regular season in BC.
- W.J. Mouat closed out a heartbreaking preseason schedule with another close loss to Notre Dame by a score of 21-14, but they’ve proved once again that they’re ready to battle tooth and nail for a playoff spot this season. Thankfully they get to start 0-0 just like everyone else in AAA, and can make a statement if they manage to defeat Mount Douglas in their regular season opener. On the other side, Notre Dame will have the chance to ease their way into the regular season with some very winnable games to kickoff their campaign, and if all goes to plan, they’ll be hitting their stride just in time for a couple colossal contests against Carson Graham and Vancouver College to close out their schedule.
New Brunswick
- There’s still three undefeated teams after two weeks, but we are giving the edge to Tantramar at the moment after dominating their first two opponents by a combined score of 84-11. The Titans went 2-6 last year, but we think they’re ready to reclaim their throne as the team to beat in New Brunswick.
