It was a special night for CFC60 OT Matthew Bergeron out of Syracuse, who was selected by the Atlanta Falcons 38th overall in the 2nd round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Victoriaville, QC native will be joining the Falcons after a standout four year career at Syracuse, where he became a pillar on the offensive line as the Orange slowly climbed the national rankings peaking at 14th on the AP Polls in week eight with a flawless 6-0 start to the 2022 season. They unfortunately went on to finish his junior season with a 7-6 record and a loss to Minnesota in the Pinstripe Bowl, but at that point Bergeron already began to garner attention from NFL scouts as a prospect who can help any franchise elevate their offensive line.

Bergeron attended Le BoisƩ High School before committing to CƩgep de Thetford, who are a member of the DII conference. Despite not playing at one of the top level DI program, the young offensive tackle was second ranked on the CFC60 CEGEP/JUCO Rankings, and earned his spot at Syracuse after an electric camp performance that ended with a quick offer from the Orange coaching staff. It turned out to be a great decision with Bergeron starting five games as a freshman en route to earning Pro Football Focus All-Freshman Second Team honours, and then went on to start all 11 games as a sophomore. He completed his journey with Syracuse last season being named team captain, and received a nod on the All-ACC Second Team plus an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
