#CFCHSFB Preview (ONT – PEEL): South Division rivals take the field in Week 3

After a bye last week, the rested 0-1 St. Joan of Arc Angels will face off against the 1-0 CFC#37 Our Lady of Mount Carmel Crusaders in a pivotal Week 3 Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) Tier 1 battle.

For the Angels, the Week 2 bye provided a much-needed opportunity to regroup, rest and refocus as the team gears up for the remainder of the regular season.

After losing to CFC#8 Lorne Park Spartans in Week 1, the Angels reflected and went over aspects the team needs to improve as they move forward. Β This week, the Angels will take to the road and attempt to win their first game of the season against their ROPSSAA South rival, the Crusaders. The Angels are hoping the bye has helped them shake off their subpar performance in Week 1, as they set their sights on evening their early season record.

The Crusaders started their regular season in Week 2 and was victorious on the road in a tough match up against St Marcellinus Saints.

Wide receiver for the Crusaders Kian Schaffer-Baker, felt that the extra week really helped the team prepare for their season opener.

“The coaches did a lot of work to make sure we were prepared and ready to make a statement to the league, allowing us to show them what we can really do,” said Schaffer-Baker.

Heading into Week 3, the momentum gained from last week’s game will serve to benefit the Crusaders, especially considering the team will play their first home game of 2015.

With that in mind, the Crusaders are expecting strong support from the home crowd for this rivalry match up.

“The players are extremely excited to showcase our abilities and get to play in front of our home crowd,” added Schaffer-Baker. “I believe we honestly have the best fans, so many kids in our school love to come out and support us, which I find helps the players a lot in performing.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
