CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – week 9 – “Warriors honour fallen teammates, win playoff game”

The Grande Prairie Composite high school Warriors won a semi-final game against Sexsmith Sabres 40 to 0. All four boys killed in the tragic car crash, plus the lone survivor Zachary Judd, were honoured before the game. Close to 1000 people braved the weather to watch the game. The CFC ‘top 25’ high school rankings is released between Sunday at 6pm and Monday at 12 noon depending on when scores are reported.

TOP 25

1 (1) SĆ©minaire Saint-FranƧois Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec (9-0)

Had opening round playoff bye, reward for coming first in Juvenile Division 1A. The Blizzard host the AcadĆ©mie Saint-Louis Arsenals Saturday at 1pm in semi-final action. The game is a rematch of an epic 45 to 38 overtime victory by the Blizzard at home on September 24th. Should be a great oneā€¦get your tickets.

2 (3) Nelson Lords ā€“ Burlington, ON (7-0, 1-0)

Continue to dominate the Halton football scene, this time defeating defending champions Notre Dame 59 to 3. Victor Fasullo, Wes Miller and Doug Corby each had 2 TDs in the victory. The Lords will have a bye through the Quarterfinals next week and await the winner of MM Robinson and Assumption.

3 (2) Cardinal Newman Cardinals ā€“ Stoney Creek, ON (6-0)

Defeated Bishop Tonnos 47 to 14. Wide receiver Peterman had 3 touchdowns in the first half and Hill to Peterman is a combo to be remembered as playoffs begin. Finish regular season against Bishop Ryan Friday.

4 (4) CollĆØge Notre-Dame Cactus ā€“ Montreal (9-1)

Dominated Ɖ. sec. Jacques-Rousseau in quarter final action Saturday by a score of 58 to 20. Mike-Brian Lusikila had touchdowns of 86 and 37 yards and Louis-Mathieu Normandin had 3 touchdown catches. The defense had 6 QB sacks. The Cactus are peaking at the right time of year. They host Saint-Jean-Eudes this Saturday at 7pm. The Cactus defense came to play early in the year in the regular season match up that saw the Cactus win 28 to 2. Defense wins championships and the Cactus have gave up less than 10 points per game.

5 (5) St Thomas More Knights ā€“ Vancouver, BC (4-0, 3-0)

Won by default over Earl Marriot by a league mandated score of 15 to 0. The win improves STMā€™s record to 7-0 overall clinches the Eastern Conference title for the Knights. Close out regular season against Lord Tweedsmuir.

6 (6) St. Paul’s Crusaders ā€“ Winnipeg (8-0)

Defeated Kelvin in quarter finals 58 to 0. Face Sturgeon Heights Huskies Thursday in semi-final game. The Crusaders won the regular season match up 37 to 3.

7 (7) Harry Ainlay Titans ā€“ Edmonton (8-0)

Defeated Ross Sheppard this week in opening round of ā€˜Brightā€™ playoffs 53 to 7. Play Jasper Place in Edmonton Public (Bright) final this week.

8 (8) Notre Dame ā€“ Calgary (7-0)

Beat Western Canada in final game of regular season for Calgary division 1 52 to 21. Play Bowness/Henry Wise Wood winner in playoffs.

9 (9) Riffel Royals ā€“ Regina, SK (7-0)

Had a first round bye in the playoffs this week. Host Balfour Redmen Tuesday in Regina 4A semi-finals. Defeated Redmen in last game of regular season 29 to 14.

10 (10) Bev Facey Falcons ā€“ Sherwood Park, AB (6-0-2)

Defeated Salisbury by a score of 14 to 9. Play Tier 2 powerhouse Austin Oā€™Brien in Edmonton Metro (Carr) finals.

11 (12) Holy Names ā€“ Windsor, ON (6-0)

Had opening round bye and will compete this week in semi-finals.

12 (14) Catholic Central Crusaders (CCH) – London, ON (6-0, 0-1)

Won final regular season game against John Paul II by a score of 52 to 7. Open playoffs this week.

13 (15) Northern Vikings- Sarnia, ON (6-0, 1-0)

Defeated Lambton Central in semi-final action 45 to 7. Play St. Christopherā€™s this weekend in the Lambton final. Northern won the October 14th meeting by a score of 24 to 10.

14 (11) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. (4-1, 3-1)

Defeated Centennial 20 to 6. Has the bye this week as they were suppose to play Earl Marriot who folded their program – awarded a 15 to 0 win. Defense continues to improve and Daniel Markin is managing the offense efficiently.

15 (23) St. Andrew’s Saints ā€“ Aurora, ON (5-1, 2-0)

Lost final regular season against St. Michealā€™s College 26 to 14 the avenged it in the opening round of playoffs 51 to 7. Yannick Harou scores 4 tdā€™s and Jamal Kett and Matt Roy each had one. Fabian Andark had 3 fields goals and converted all 6 PATs. Play UCC in rematch of last yearā€™s classic overtime final.

16 (16) Vancouver College Fighting Irish ā€“ Vancouver (3-1, 2-3)

Defeated Carson Graham 54 to 27. Jesse Cervas carried 18 times for 184 yards and five touchdowns. Matt Alviz carried 7 times for 153 yards. Face rival Notre Dame Jugglers in final regular season game.

17 (13) Oak Park Raiders ā€“ Winnipeg (7-1)

Defeated Sisler Spartans Wednesday in the quarterfinals 36 to 15. Play Vincent Massey Trojans Friday In semi-finals. Rematch of final regular season game that saw the Raiders come out victorious by a score 31 to 20.

18 (17) Citadel Phoenix ā€“ Halifax (7-0)

Central Kings forfeited. Play Lockview this Thursday.

19 (19) Sydenham Golden Eagles ā€“ Sydenham, ON (6-0)

Had a first round bye in the AAA division playoffs. Play Regi in the semi-finals of Kingston playoff football. The Golden Eagles won the regular season meeting 20 to 3.

20 (20) Mount Douglas Rams ā€“ Victoria, B.C. (3-1, 2-2)

Defeated New Westminister 45 to 0. Terrel Davis had 100 yards rushing and one score on seven carries. Jordan Deverill was 9 for 11 and 101 yards and 2 TDs.

21 (21) Notre Dame ā€“ Brampton, ON (6-0)

Finished regular season undefeated beating Philip Pocock 35 to 0. Playoffs begin this week.

22 (22) Don Bosco Eaglesā€“ Etobicoke, ON (6-0)

Beat Etobicoke collegiate opening game of Toronto Tier 1 playoffs 27 to 6. Play Richview in West Region final, rematch of final regular season game that Bosco pitched a shut out.

23 (HM) King City Lions ā€“ King City (5-0, 0-1)

Defeated Huron Heights Warriors 14 to 0.

24 (25) Leo Hayes Lions – Fredericton, NB (6-0)

Had a first round playoff bye. Host Bernice MacNaughton this Saturday at 1pm. Leo Hayes won the regular season meeting 28 to 14.

25 (HM) AcadĆ©mie Saint-Louis Arsenal ā€“ Quebec (7-3)

Defeated Ɖ. sec. CurĆ©-Antoine-Labelle les Loups in quarter-final action 28 to 7. Visit first place Blizzard, a rematch of a thrilling overtime loss earlier in the year. QB Alexandre Hardy leads the offense and Michael Fortin leads the defense.
