In Grade 11 (2009-2010) he played both ways as a linebacker and a fullback and recieved the teams Wayne Sawa memorial award for Heart and desire. In 2010, he made Team Saskatchewan as a Defensive Tackle where they went on to win the Football Canada Cup. In grade 12 Jon played both ways again but as a Nose tackle as well as full back and Offensive Lineman, and also Kicker. He won his teams Most Vaulable Defensive player award as well as the Saskgridiron.com’s ( provincial 9-man site) East Central conference Top Defensive lineman award.

Jon’s most memorable football experience “would no doubt be winning the Football Canada Cup this past summer. We had a great bunch of guys, a lot who are still good friends of mine, excellent Coaches as well, and an Awesome Support staff and we were all able to get on the same page with the same goal to win.”

Most influential people in football and life “would have to be my High School coach, Mr. John Svenson who was this year’s NFL Home Depot Coach of the year who spends enormous amount of time and effort to keep football going as well as growing in our community. He has been a huge leader in our area of the province to start up junior football (gr 8 and 9) as well as peewee football (gr 6 and 7) as well spring league football which will begin this year and coaching all of these teams along with our high school team as well as his son and daughter’s hockey teams. Other influential people in my life are my Mom and Dad who spend countless hours driving me to many football camps and tryouts as well as volunteering their time and effort to help out where ever they possibly can as well as finding sponsorship for many of these football programs in our community.”

Jon is a person who is involved in the community. Along with playing football, he also plays hockey and baseball and has been an umpire and a referee in those sports. Also coaching peewee football which will be his fourth year this year where he has been the defensive coordinator, linebacker and a defensive line coach. He is looking forward to coaching spring league this year,

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
