The teams Jordyn has suited up previously for include the Central Division Tigers of the Mississauga Football League (MFL) and the Mississauga Thundering Herd. In 2008, the defensive star won a bantam championship with the Tigers.

As a member of the Mississauga Warriors of the Ontario Varsity Football League, Jordyn was a starting cornerback on the junior varsity team. When he made the gradual move to the varsity squad, he was a starting free safety.

In 2011, the standout experienced a memorable time with the Warriors. The team began the OVFL regular season with a 0-4 record. This was a wakeup call for the team, and Jordyn says the team went into “survival mode”.

“We were able to put together a remarkable run of four regular season victories and were headed to the playoffs with a full head of steam,” explains Jordyn. “This followed with a quarter final win on the road against the Niagara Spears in convincing fashion.”

“Next, we traveled to play the defending champion, number one seed Essex Ravens at their home field.”

Only the team and their supporters believed they could pull out this victory against the Ravens.

“This game was a battle from start to finish and went to four overtimes before we pulled out a hard fought win late into the night under the lights,” adds the Warriors star player. “Unfortunately, the season came to a close the following week after a hard fought loss to the Hamilton Ironmen in Hamilton.”

As a five year starter with the Father Michael Goetz Gators of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA), Jordyn achieved major success. Throughout his high school career, the Gators star played a pivotal role on the defensive and special teams units.

From 2007-2011, Jordyn was a player of the week sixteen times. As a leader, he was a team captain on the Gators for three consecutive years (2009-2011). For his exceptional play on the field, Jordyn was nominated for Gators varsity defensive player of the year in 2011.

Moreover, the Gators defensive back has been named a member of the GTA Top 100 squad two consecutive times (2011, 2012). Most recently, Jordyn has been selected to the GTA team that will participate in the all-star game on May 6th at McMaster University.

Another recent development in Jordyn’s football career is that he’s decided to continue his football career at University of Guelph next season. The factors that led the Gators defensive star to commit to Guelph include the environment of the campus, student life, community support for the university/football program, alumni support, and the future of athletics/campus.

“For both my parents and I, what sealed the deal was seeing first-hand the dedication and commitment by the coaching staff behind the academic support for the varsity players,” adds the future Gryphons player, who will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Geography and a minor in either environmental studies or sociology. ” The sense of family and where I could fit in as a person was also very big so for my needs, the University of Guelph ultimately came out on top.”

“I was told when I began this process that I’d know where I wanted to be when I got there and I know that Guelph is the right place for me because it just felt right.”

With all the feats Jordyn has accomplished on the field, he credits two coaches for his development into an elite defensive star in the Ontario football ranks.

“My high school defensive coordinator Norv St. Louis was a big part in my development as a player,” says the Gators defensive back. “He made me focus on details and the cerebral part of the game.”

“Also, my varsity Warriors defensive coordinator Gord Gallimore helped instill the confidence in me to play to my potential and be the hard hitting aggressive defensive player I am capable of being.”

Additionally, Jordyn says his family has played a large part in his life on and off the field.

“The most influential people in my life for sure are my parents Doreen and Marlon Mittoo who from a very young age have always try to guide me down the right path towards making good sound decisions in life and to take responsibility for my actions both good and bad,” adds Jordyn. “My dad has been my foundation base for football 101 and has taught me to be the best player I can be and to respect what the football fraternity provides you as a person.”

“My immediate and extended family has always been there to support me, and also a small group of friends who know me the best.”

Finally, there is one more individual the Gators graduating player credits as being a steady yet positive influence on his life.

“Another important person outside of my family and friends would be my guidance counselor, Ms. Caswell at Father Michael Goetz CSS,” comments Jordyn. “She has provided me with lots of individual time over the years giving me great advice.”

Away from the gridiron, Jordyn has a lot of interests. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking as a way to fuel his passion for food and eating. Additionally, he listens to music from the eighties, nineties, hip hop, R&B and pop genres. Jordyn has a passion for traveling around the world in order to experience cultures and meeting new people. San Francisco, Florida, England, Italy and France are just some of the places he’s gone to in the past.

As for a future career path, the Gators defensive back would like to enter the field of urban planning.

“I can do it anywhere in the world and it will allow me to gain international experience and exposure,” explains Jordyn of his desired career path. “Having the ability to impact decisions on how the environment and how space is developed in the future is what attracts me to this profession.”

From the game of football, the Gators defensive star has learned many skills which he will take with him into his next phase of life at University of Guelph. One of those things is the team concept.

“One of key things in my opinion is, it’s the ultimate team sport,” says Jordyn. “One person can’t accomplish everything on their own and I need a good support group around me of people that I can trust.”

“Having the right people around to direct and advise me is important, especially ones that tell me the hard truth even when I may not want to hear it.”

Additionally, the Gators graduating player has learned tools that will enable him to be successful in all future endeavours on and off the field.

“Always be coachable in everything I do and to be a good listener,” comments Jordyn. ” Developing two way trust along with compassion is also huge plus the game has also taught me such a level of respect and appreciation for the things and opportunities I have.”

“Lastly, it has instilled that never give up work ethic to be the best that I can be in life, which I will always carry with me.”
