Dixon catching it along the line

A catch from a major play can be a turn tail of the future.

Dallas Dixon has been playing in one capacity or another for the last 9 years. Starting out with the Sherwood Park Broncos, and then to the Raiders, onward to the Bulldogs, then moving forward with the Wolverines and now currently with the Salisbury Composite Sabres. Having one year on the junior Sabres and with this season and last with the senior Sabres has all but shown how this young manā€™s dedication to the sport.

For the future endeavours Dallas is looking forward to continue with his football playing days. Although there havenā€™t been any discussions as of this moment, he does have his eye on a few post-secondary schools like University of Manitoba, University of Alberta, Simon Fraser and a few state side NCAA schools. There have been no concrete decisions made as of yet but there is of course hope, and with hope comes focus. Dallas has thrown his focus into wanting to major in Exercise Sciences and eventually move into the Physical Therapy career to give back to athletes that need to recover and train, as the people who have helped and assisted Dallas in these faucets. But the current goal ā€œI am trying to focus on my senior season and improve myself so I can have a great film to give scouts.ā€ And with that is clearly about endeavours, dreams and goals.

With the desire to play with a CIS or a NCAA school with the chance to play professional Dallas knows that a lot of his chances and offers will be based off of his training and how he interacts with coaches from these potential schools. ā€œI like to run lots of sprints and agility drills when I am on the field and do lots of lower body, abs, shoulder and triceps when I am in the gym.ā€ This is something that occurs for Dallas 2-3 times a week before practice. But his training doesnā€™t end there; he is quick to point out that he has had the chance to train for other moments in life. ā€œI have trained and learned a lot about how to interact with coaches in an interview-like scenario.ā€Ā  Showing that training doesnā€™t only take place in the weight room.

The key to this young manā€™s success on the field is the people to who surround him and keep him grounded. The highlight to last season is not of a big play or a major game but a simple time and routine with a great friend, ā€œBeing able to play as a Receiver Duo with one of my best friends; Josh Park. We had some great times during practices, games and pregame meals.ā€ And it doesnā€™t even end there; he attributes his motivation behind the ball to his father. ā€œHe has pushed me to follow my passions even if they seem far-fetched.ā€ With a strong male influence and several different successful football players showing Dallas that hard work and determination can make you successful in achieving any goal you have placed in front of yourself.

A quick witted young man full of spirit and spunk who has a huge future in front of him, taking him places with smiles and laughs. ā€œFirst person in my family to play football, and I grew up in Paris as a kid. Parisā€¦Ontario that is.ā€
