Hamelin’s journey began in high school with the St-Stanislas Patriotes. The young player has been in the ranks of the team for the following five years and will now be playing with CEGEP Division 2 team, Lionel Groulx Nordiques.

Throughout his high school years, he won the Most Valuable Defensive Player and Best Defensive Lineman Awards as well as being captain of the team.

His team’s choice was based on the quality of the football program.

“I believe in their coaching staff, and on their chances to be successful next season. They have an amazing program, and I think it was the best choice I could have made.” admitted the defensive player.

The best moment of the last season is when his team went to the Bol d’Or.

“Just being part of the finals helped me to get a lot of experience. It was a new challenge, and it felt amazing.” said the athlete.

At the moment, Hamelin has been in touch with some CIS coaches, but nothing is official. His choice of university will be based on the quality of the coaching staff, the team history and the training he will be given. The player considers being open to any CIS school.

“Some people made a huge difference in my football career, such as Stephan Pépin and Martin Ricard,” said the defensive tackle.  “They both taught me how to play football and they had very good values.”

“There are also some coaches from Team Quebec who did an amazing work with us, showing us new techniques and helping us to play the best football we could.”

His weekly training consists of four sessions of weightlifting and two sessions of running. Hamelin hopes to improve his physical strength and his speed before the next season.

“I want people to know that I am a hard worker, and that I will do whatever it takes to get to my goals. I love adversity and pushing myself to the limits.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
