Football Canada is proud to announce its Canada Cup National Team coaching staff which will guide a group of standouts selected from the 2013 Football Canada Cup (birthĀ years 1996-1997) as part of an international series between Canada and Team USA in February 2014. The event takes place February 3-8thĀ in Dallas, Texas which will feature some events throughout the week at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington.
The coaching staff were selected from each of the seven 2013 Football Canada Cup participating provinces.
The team is led by Quebec head coach,Ā Brad CollinsonĀ who will serve the same role in Dallas. Under coach Collinsonās leadership, Quebec has won 3 consecutive Canada Cup titles, the last two as the teamās head coach. Currently an assistant coach with the Laval Rouge et Or, Collinson will also serve as an assistant with the Junior National Team in 2014.
Canadaās defense is led by longtime Okotoks area coachĀ Bryan BrandfordĀ who has led the Wildrose province to the Canada Cup finals the past three years as head coach. On the other side of the ball, offensive coordinator,Ā Joe DāAmoreĀ brings a wealth of experience to the national team, currently serving as Windsor Lancers head coach.
Rounding out the coaching staff areĀ Ronald HilaireĀ (defensive line),Ā Dean JonesĀ (receivers),Ā Chris BochenĀ (offensive line),Ā Scott BradyĀ (defensive backs) andĀ Dwayne MassonĀ (running backs).
“I am very honoured to have the opportunity to represent my country as the head coach of our U18 team,ā said Collinson.
āHaving the chance to work with some outstanding coaches from across the country is also going to be a great experience. After coaching against coach Brandford of Team Alberta the past couple of years it will now be fun to have a chance to work together.ā
āThis experience will also be great for the growth of our sport across the country as our players will have the opportunity to compete against some of the best U18 players in the USA.”
The coaching staffās first task will be selecting the final 14 players for the Football Canada Cup National Team which will be announced in September 2013.
