Football Canada ‘safe contact’ tour starts in Ottawa

Football Canada, the Ontario Football Alliance, and NCAFA are pleased to announce the first Safe Contact Tour launching Friday June 21 and Saturday June 22, 2013. Coaches, players and parents will be introduced to the very latest National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Safe Blocking and Tackling techniques approved for use by Football Canada. All activities will take place at the RA Centre on Riverside Drive in Ottawa, Ontario.
Coaches:
Friday June 21 (6pm to 10pm).
Coaches will be trained in the new Safe Contact tackling techniques that is being implemented nationwide.
Saturday June 22 (8am to 4pm).
Coaches will have the opportunity to practice new techniques with players which will lead to full NCCP Training in Safe Contact for Football.
Cost is $50 and includes training, evaluation, course materials, expert instruction/mentoring and lunch on Saturday.
Players:
Saturday June 22 (10am to 3pm).
Players will be trained how to make safe contact while blocking and tackling on field by trained coaches.
Cost is $20 and includes lunch (note: No equipment required) and a Football Canada T-shirt. Cost reduction of $5 if player brings parent/guardian.
Parents/Guardian:
Saturday June 22 (10am to 3pm).
In addition to observing coaches and players, practice Safe Contact, parents will have opportunities to try some of the techniques themselves and to take part in discussions around Concussions, Long Term Athletic Development, and NCAFA’s pilot project with Football Canada and Impakt Protective Technologies.
Cost: No Cost to Parents and Guardians
