Football Canada unveils Junior National Team identification camps across Canada

Football Canada is proud to announce a series of player identification camps across Canada which will be used to help determine who will represent Canada at the 2014 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) U19 (19-and-under) World Championship.

Players born in the year’s 1995 and 1996 with a Canadian citizenship and who are members of their respective provincial football association will be eligible to attend the identification camps.

“As a final test in the selection process for Canada’s 2014 U19 World Championship entry, a group of players will be selected from these identification camps to play Team USA in a game on February 7th in Dallas, Texas,” explained Football Canada Executive Director, Shannon Donovan. “This game will be played in addition to that between the Americans and Canada’s National Team made up of the 2013 Football Canada Cup participants.”

Players interested in attending are asked to complete the pre-registration form which can be found at www.footballcanada.com or through their Provincial Football Association. Team Canada hopefuls are required to bring their own shoulder pads, jersey, helmet, mouth guard and proper footwear.

Canada’s Junior National Team goes into the 2014 tournament as the top seed after defeating Team USA 23-17 in the 2012 U19 World Championship gold medal game in Austin, Texas.
Canada’s Junior National Team alumni include Byron Archambault (U. Montreal), Linden GaydoshDanny Groulx (U. Laval), Kirby Fabien (BC Lions), Steven Lumbala (Montreal Alouettes), JérémiRoch (U. Sherbrooke), Matt Sewell (McMaster U.), and Jake Thomas (Winnipeg Blue Bombers).
