Football Manitoba is pleased to announce that it has hired Shawn Coates as its new Executive Director. Coates comes to Football Manitoba after most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer for Novusoft Solutions – a technology firm that makes smartphone apps.
Coates has many years of experience working in football. As the Director of Football Operations for the Canadian Football League, he was responsible for many areas of the game including game operations, security and policy writing. His duties included technology and project management, such as the league’s Instant Replay initiative. Coates also worked for five years as the Director of Media & Public Relations for the Winnipeg Football Club, managing all communications activities.
Coates worked as the Director of Marketing & Communications for the University of Winnipeg and is a professional photographer whose work has recently appeared in publications such as USA Today, the Winnipeg Sun, La Presse and the Toronto Sun.
Coates starts with Football Manitoba March 10.
