Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Erwood-Macdonald knows what “true grind” is

NFL tight end, JJ Watt, exemplifies true work ethic and passion. He is someone whoĀ Tristyn Erwood-Macdonald looks up to. “My football idol would have to be JJ Watt because of his work ethic and really shows that to be the best it’s a constant grind no matter what faces you whether it’s injury or adversity.”Ā

True grind. This is a concept that Tristyn has learned from football. He says it has shown him that you have to work day and night to be the best and that it allows you to achieve your goals.Ā Some of the goals Erwood-Macdonald has for the FPC is “to really show adversity is the best driving force in football”.Ā

The Lord Tweedsmuir athlete has been playing football for eight years now. He registered 41 tackles and 9 sacks in the 2016 season. In order to continue on being a “driving force”, Tristyn will be working in the off-season to bulk and work on his conditioning.

He says, “I’m strictly bulking and try to work out 9 times a week but make sure to always try to have 4 workouts week and the days that I miss I make up with 200 push ups. I also make sure one of those day I work in technique and speed.”

You can tell that Erwood-Macdonald definitely has the desire to get to the next level and his love of football has been the fuel to the fire.

I love football because of its adrenaline rush that you get from the game I would consider even addicting the feeling of smashing someone or even hang out with your team mates is in forgettable.”
