Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): REC Karpik is a team player

Jim Karpik is a student in grade 11 who has experienced playing football in Canada, the United States, and internationally in the 2014 International Bowl when Team Canada played Team USA at the University of Texas – Arlington in Maverick Stadium.

Karpik has experienced the ecstatic moments of high school football, but also the agony following championship losses. From winning the Backyard Blitz in Dayton, Ohio, and winning the Gridiron Classic Bowl game in Orlando to losing the 2014 International Bowl game.

Karpik is 6’2’’, 165lbs wide receiver playing for the Royal Imperial Knights looking to make an impact on the CFCFPC Central team, “I hope to help my CFC Central team win its game,” says Karpik, who adds, “hopefully I can make the grade 11 all star team.”

Being named on a list like the top 100 would be an honor that would “acknowledge all the work my coaches and I have done,” says Karpik and “it would certainly open some doors in my future.”

Despite still being a teenager, Karpik is mature beyond his years and sees football as means to help his education as oppose to a mere simple game, a lesson his football idol taught him.

Dave Stella, the former Montreal Alouettes, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and now Toronto Argonauts, taught Karpik two very important lessons. “Catch passing skills but most importantly he taught me the importance of a high school and university education,” says Karpik.

Karpik spends his offseason on strength training, and “in the spring and summer, I play for the Toronto Junior Argos of the Ontario Football Conference,” says Karpik.
