Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Kelowna Owl looking to improve his football ability

ATH Nathan Beauchemin has been playing football for eight years. While this may seem like a lot, he is still quite young in his career and already has some accolades to his name.

Currently playing on the JV team for the Kelowna Senior Secondary Owls and having played on the Kelowna Mission Lions team, Nathan was the 2014 BC Provincial MVP, was named to Team BC in 2015, and was the 2016 Provincial Champion QB. He has also been a part of 4 – 9 man championship teams.

In addition to this, Nathan also was nominated and won the award for the “Community Sport Hero Awards” for 2016. This award recognizes and honours local volunteers, athletes, and service providers for their outstanding contributions to sport in the community.

Beauchemin is a versatile athlete playing at quarterback, wide receiver, runningback, linebacker, and kick returner. It’s no wonder when we asked him why he loves football, he responded, “I love the playing the game and to be part of a team.”

It’s this vision that allows young players to make goals and focus on becoming better. For the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge, Beauchemin would like to improve his football abilities and get noticed by coaches and scouts at the next level. He goes on to say that he will play multiple sports in the off-season to enhance this.

I play multiple sports including flag football, basketball and soccer and train for speed and power.”

In order to stay motivated, Nathan looks up to John Elway as a role model. “He played my position at an all star level for my favourite team” he says. For this young athlete, he has many more years to protect his craft, just as Elway did.
