Teddy Mansell has already been on the CFC100 list but is continuing to rise above the competition. The 6’0, 215lbs Mansell plays linebacker for the Royal Imperial Collegiate of Canada Knights in St. Catherine’s.
Mansell has played for a plethora of teams throughout his football life and has travelled throughout North America on various all-star teams. Teddy represented Team Ontario in the Spaulding Cup in Quebec City, where he was named Defensive MVP. Teddy also got the chance to go down to Dallas, Texas to play in the International Bowl where he was named the tournament tackle leader.
When asked about why he plays the game, Teddy responded, “I play football because I’m a natural competitor in all sports, especially my favourite sport, football. I approach football in a very serious manner and constantly strive to reach my full potential. It’s a sport I’ve played all my life and it defines my lifestyle which is why I’m so grateful every time I lace up.”
The CFC 100 list is very tough to make but Mansell made it in his graduating year of 2016. The linebacker has had many visits with NCAA and U Sports schools and hopes to be playing university football in Fall 2017.
Mansell is hoping the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge will help him continue to get noticed.
When asked about his favourite player to watch in the NFL/CFL today, Teddy acknowledged, “My favourite player would have to be Linebacker Luke Kuechly for the Carolina Panthers. He’s gifted with immense athletic talent but most of all, he’s a natural born leader respected by all other players on and off the field. “
Mansell calls football “not just a game but a lifestyle.” And also said about his offseason regimen, “If you’re serious about football, you have to constantly be focused and committed to staying in shape and keeping your skills sharp regardless of time of year.”
Teddy brings a lot of skill to the table but credits the coaches that have gotten him this far.
Mansell mentioned about his coaches, “I’ve been taught by a multitude of excellent coaches throughout my football journey. Each coach has imparted upon me his own unique insight and personal knowledge, helping me to continually grow as a player and a person year after year”
