Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): LB O’Neill hoping to get scouted

Thomas O’Neill has been playing football for 10 years and so far he has had a great time playing football.

“It has taught me to work hard all of the time, from practice to game day, from practice to game day,” said Thomas.

He has had two back injuries, but through hard work and determination, he has been able to come back and party.

Over the course of his long career, the linebacker has played for the Lasalle Warriors, the Western Patriotes and the St-Lazare Stallions.

Last season he got one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, more than 60 tackles, three quarterback sacks and one blocked field goal.

Thomas is currently committed to the CEGEP Division 1 Vanier Cheetahs.

For this year’s Fox 40 Prospect Challenge, O’Neill goals are to make the varsity team and to get scouted by universities.

During the offseason, the Cheetah attended a gym called Speed Science Training Systems, which helps with this football training.

“I’ve been doing this for just about 2 years now four nights a week to progress my strength and speed,” added Thomas.

On the field, his favourite player was Brian Urlacher because of the dominance in the game and his ability to make huge plays at crucial moments was always special to watch.

Thomas loves football because “it is the best team sport, where you really bond with your teammates.”
