Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): LB/DE Magnan ready to get back across the border

Adam Magnan started his football career 10 years ago when he was really young and always enjoyed it.

“I played many other sports, but I always come back to football,” said Adam. “From the moment I started, I received a lot of positive feedback, which made me persevere!”

The linebacker/defensive end got his start in LFMO Gatineau, where he played from 2008 to 2012.

In 2012, he started playing for the Bills and Eagleview Middle School in Colorado Springs, USA until 2014.

“I lived in the U.S. for 2.5 years and I really enjoyed it,” commented Adam. “They take football very seriously and even though we were only in middle school, we trained every day during the season and I loved it.”

“I truly improved during my time in the U.S.,” added Adam. “I also adapted really well to the culture and football was very important in the school!”

He then spent a year with Collège Nouvelles Frontières in Gatineau.

The past two years, Adam has been playing in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) with the East Ottawa Generals and Fox 40 Prospect Challenge Ontario East.

In the future, the General would really like to get picked up by an American college and the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge gives him a chance to show his skills and impress.

“But mostly, I want to improve my skills with other strong players,” said Adam of this year’s FPC.

This upcoming year, Adam will be playing with the Myers Riders in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) if selected.

“I love to play but I don’t watch a lot of football or think about football all the time,” commented the General.

During the offseason, he works out every morning at school and is on the basketball and track team.

“I am also an avid snowboarder and I am a snowboarding instructor at Edelweiss Summit in Wakefield every weekends in the winter,” added the General.

Adam does not have a specific football idol, but his favourite team is the Denver Broncos, as he lived in Colorado and played lots of football there.

“I believe that you need everyone to win at football,” explained Adam. “There is so many incredible players that are nice guys and I want to be like them. Leaders on and off the field.”

The General loves football because he meets a lot of great people who care about the sport and the players and participate like crazy.

“It’s nice to see how everyone plays a part in keeping the organization going, friends and families all get involved,” explained Adam. “It’s a little community that I am proud to belong to and it’s fun tackling people.”
