Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): QB Duke looking to get better

James Duke started playing football when he started high school two years ago in 2015.

The starting quarterback just wrapped up his second season with the Bishop Reding Royals in the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA).

Last season, he ran for 140 yards, threw for 155 yards, with 20 completed passes and seven touchdowns.

The Royal has been going to tryouts, such as Team Ontario and the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge, hoping to gain experience and become a better player.

β€œMy goal is to become a better football player by participating in football camps and teams,” commented James. β€œMy goal is to make the [FPC] football team and to be able to exercise my potential, and to become a better person and player.”

Moreover, James has been participating in North Halton Crimson Tide training camps as a quarterback each weekend, and will be playing for them this upcoming summer.

During the offseason, aside from doing camps, he has been improving his athletic ability by working out and playing flag football.

β€œI also play rugby in the spring to help improve my cardio and ball handling skills,” added James.

On the field, his role model is his dad, who played football through high school and university.

β€œI see the success he has had in his life due to the lessons and skills he learned from playing football,” explained the quarterback. β€œHe inspires me to play football so I can learn the same life lessons and skills that will help me in the future.”

James loves to play football because it pushes him to be more physically and mentally tough.

β€œI enjoy the challenge and I enjoy working with the team,” added the Royal.
