When you’re a natural at something, everything just ‘clicks’. For quarterback, Logan McDonald, he felt that way the first season he began to play football.
“I have been on many sports teams and around football my whole life, but just started playing football in grade 9 for my high school team. Football was natural for me and became my favourite sport very quickly.”
Playing tackle football for two seasons now, McDonald is currently playing for the Robert Bateman Timberwolves out of Abbotsford, BC. In eight games, he recorded 962 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, 3 rushing touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.
He has also been awarded team MVP grade 9, team MVP grade 10, Rookie of the Year grade 9, Top Offensive Player in grade 10, BC high school football 8th in the province for passing yards in grade 9, and BC high school football 2nd in the province for passing yards in grade 10.
“I love the game and the high school experience and hope to continue football past high school,” he says. Which is why he was keen to try out for the CFCFPC. “I wanted to try out for experience and to get better. Also I wanted to be able to play football in the spring and hopefully get exposure for the future.”
In addition to attending camps and trying out for various teams, Logan will be playing basketball, working out, developing his footwork and throwing, as well as practicing with players from his team. He also will be playing touch football in the off-season.
What makes a young man develop such a passion for the sport that he felt right at home with from the beginning? Logan says his Dad has been his inspiration.
“My dad because he also played QB when he was younger and was very talented. He is supportive and has taught me most of what I know today about the game.”
He adds this about his love for the game. “I love the energy and atmosphere there is on a football field. The competition and the team energy is different from any other sport. Football felt natural for me and I loved everything about it.”
