Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): Sooner looking to mentor

Caleb Palmateer first hit the gridiron seven years ago and his experience so far has been amazing.

β€œEver since I was old enough to play I loved every second of it,” said Caleb. β€œFrom all the road trips to the different cities, to meeting new teammates that end up being life long friends, I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

During his long career, the centre/guard has played for the Bancroft T-Hawks, Peterborough Eagles Minor Football and in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) with the Peterborough Wolverines.

He also played during his high school career with the North Hastings Huskies, as well as the Crestwood Mustangs.

Currently, Caleb plays in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) with the Ottawa Sooners.

This year, the Sooner is competing in the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge and his goal is to be a role model for the younger players since he will be one of the older players.

He also hopes to add on to what his team did last year and get another win.

During the offseason, he has been at the Elite Performance Academy in Kanata training with some of his teammates and he loves to watch his past games to see what he can improve on going into a new season.

On the field, Caleb’s idol is the Dallas Cowboys’ right guard, Zack Martin, because he works hard each and everyday on his technique which consistently makes him one of the top offensive lineman in the NFL, which is what every player strives to be.

The Sooner loves to play football because of the sport’s contact.

β€œAs any offensive lineman would say you get to hit people without into trouble,” explained Caleb.
