Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Going to Ottawa! Desnoyers selected for “Battle of the Best”

(#75 Connor Desnoyers)

Many have used sport as a springboard for future opportunities. Connor Desnoyers is no different. He says that besides football being his passion, “Being part football has provided me with a sense of teamwork and being a part of something bigger that is preparing me to succeed in life.”

For this 5’8 and 175-pound defensive back/fullback, Desnoyers says his football experience so far has been very positive.

My football experience has been a awesome experience so far and wouldn’t trade the experience and friendships I have gained for anything.” He adds that football has taught him many important lessons that will carry him down the road. He has also made many lifelong friendships with his teammates and coaches along the way.

For ten years now, Desnoyers has been adding to his football family, most recently with the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers in the BC high school football league. He was named Defensive Player of the Year, was awarded the Ian Craig Award for Most Dedicated Player, and Defensive Player of the Year with the Langley Minor Football Association. You can see he has performed at a high level throughout his career.

With this being his graduating class coming up, Desnoyers has already put in place some very ambitious, but attainable goals.

My goal is to be highlighted on the CFC100 list so that college coaches see what I can do on the field,” he says. But he also wants the CFCFPC to allow him to get more exposure to university coaches, college scouts, and continue to build his football skill. He will be able to do this at the CFCFPC “Battle of the Best” game in Ottawa in May where the grade 11, Team BCHS west coast team will travel and play the grade 11, Ontario FPC all-star team as he was selected and added to the roster. His football skill will be in the spotlight.

It’s a good thing he trains hard during the off-season in preparation for events like these and the upcoming high school football season.

I’ve learned so much and gained a lot of exposure as a result of my off-season training regiment, playing for Team BC and the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers, and attending the various ID camps in Canada.”

He goes on to say that he attends training at Game Ready Fitness in BC three days a week which helps him with his speed, agility and strength. He also says that he trains with CFL players to help him achieve his athletic and academic goals.

“These coaches are great mentors on and off the field and they remind me everyday what it takes to get to the next level,” he mentions.

He accredits Ryan Lucas and Will Loftus of the CFL with motivating him to get to this next level.

Will and Ryan continue to influence me and have been training me to be the best I can be on and off field and in the community,” he explains. “Will has been in my life since I was 5 years old. He has taught me how to become a better football player by showing me footwork drills, tackling drills etc. He has also taught me how to be a better person in general. Ryan has been in my life for 6 years now and has been a off-season/ season coach and has also been a friend.”

He’ll get his chance in Ottawa to showcase his skill, but also come back and be a better teammate, leader, and overall football player and person for the experience.
