Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): LB Bunting has got a champion’s mentality

It’s not every day that you hear of an athlete prioritizing sleep for his off-season conditioning, that is just what linebacker and runningback, Cole Bunting plans to do.

In the off season I go to the gym and lift weights and participate in any programs that are related to what I do as a Linebacker. I was told that you only grow when you sleep so extra sleep is definitely part of my off season training,” says Bunting. “Coach Shane Beatty also has the best workout programs for a conditioning so I do this also in the off season.”

Playing for the past six seasons, bunting has been a team captain and helped lead those teams to the Gold Cup Championship on the Island and to winning the BC championship in the Fall of 2016. He also has been named Offensive MVP twice, Defensive MVP twice, and Team MVP once.Β

My experience in football ha been amazing! Β This sport has a way of building acceptance and family like no other sport,” Bunting says.Β I love football because I love to hit and be hit (only on the field of course). Β I love the teams I have been able to play for, my coaches, like Charlie Cardilicchia, the family feeling that is built and the close friendships that area created because it is all about the team.”

Bunting has aspirations to show his strength as a team leader while getting a starting spot at linebacker for the CFCFPC. He adds, “My goal in the CFCFPC is to continue to grow as a player and learn all that I can from not only the amazing coaches but also my team mates.”Β

Ultimately, the passion you have for your sport is the strongest motivation one can have.

Football challenges a person in so many ways to be not only be better for myself but for the team I go to battle with each time I step out on the field.”
