Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): REC Shala,”it’s about the whole team, not just one guy”

Brotherhood is a strong bond. One that wide receiver/cornerback, Eddy Shala of the CFC50 Mount Douglas Rams puts a high value on.

I love playing football because I have built some of my closet relationships with coaches and teammates throughout the years of playing football and football is about brotherhood and playing as a team,” he says.Β “IΒ love that you don’t rely on one guy to win the game it’s the whole team.”

Playing for five years now, Shala has played for the Gordon Head Raiders and now with the Mount Douglas Rams. He says he bonds with his team during the off-season with strength and conditioning workouts three to four times per week as well as speed and footwork drills.

“Football has became a lifestyle since grade nine because at Mount Doug we practice five days a week during the season and train three days a week in the off-season – so my life is based around football,”

This bond grows with all of the time spent developing your craft. One way to do this is to attend camps and combines to showcase your skills. For the CFCFPC, Shala wants to get noticed by the scouts and coaches so that he can be recruited and continue his football career and get a post-secondary education

And he has good people to motivate him.

My football role model is Vernon Hargreaves, corner for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s my role model because he has always been an undersized guy, but the intensity he plays with and the passion makes me want to work harder and be the best version of myself that I can be,” ends Shala.
