Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Taggert likes seeing improvements each season

It’s hard to get motivated by something when you don’t see improvement. This is not such the case with William Taggert who says, “I love the progress that I make and I am able to see my improvements each season and how my knowledge of football and skills increases.”

The 5’9, 155-pound linebacker and running back currently plays for the Abbotsford Panthers in the BC High School Football League (BCHSFB). However, in the past four years that he has played, he has done so with the Mission Niners, Abby middle school, and been a part of additional all-star teams.

Taggert says his football experience has been “lots of fun, lots of hard work. It’s my passion.”

He works out at the gym and at home twice a week as well as trains with a personal trainer for speed and agility. In addition to this, Taggert plays rugby for Abby Senior and practices football for fun with his friends throughout the week.

For this year’s CFCFPC, William has some set goals that he would like to reach. “To show what I can do and hopefully get noticed and to provide opportunities for potential scholarships and to advance to higher levels and elite teams,” he explains.Β

It takes a lot of dedication, hard work, and, of course, talent to get to that next level, but it also takes your own belief in yourself which is why Taggert looks up to NFL’s Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants and Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers.

I like Odell Beckham and Cam Newton because they are good and they know it.”

For this Best Linebacker of 2016, there is no doubt that he will reach his potential in the years to come with this kind of attitude.
